Darkgalord Posted September 17 Posted September 17 (edited) Dolly Parton on 'COWBOY CARTER' being ignored at the CMAs. " I don't think it was a matter of shutting out, like doing that on purpose. I think it was just more of what the country charts and the country artists were doing, that do that all the time, not just a specialty album." "Well, you never know. There's so many wonderful country artists that, I guess probably the country music field, they probably thought, well, we can't really leave out some of the ones that spend their whole life doing that. But I didn't even realize that until somebody asked me that question. But it was a wonderful album. She can be very, very proud of, and I think everybody in country music welcomed her and thought that, that was good. So I don't think it was a matter of shutting out, like doing that on purpose. I think it was just more of what the country charts and the country artists were doing, that do that all the time, not just a specialty album." thoughts? Edited September 17 by Darkgalord 5 1 1
Into The Void Posted September 17 Posted September 17 Dolly is usually open minded so this confuses me

Popular Post Braz Posted September 17 Popular Post Posted September 17 Not even the Beyoncé fans are listening to this project, why would country fans? Dolly's right. 20 26 9 5
Popular Post Mitsouko Posted September 17 Popular Post Posted September 17 Okay this is Dolly's diplomatic way of saying of course the CMAs will nominate and award lifelong or "real" country artists instead of a cosplaying interloper who already has more Grammys than everyone 10 14 21 3
Popular Post AmericanIdol Posted September 17 Popular Post Posted September 17 Dolly is RIGHT The way Beyonce fans think she needs to get nominated for everything She's not a country artist, her album flopped after the second week and nobody listens to it anymore. There are far superior country artists than her that deserve their nominations. 33 6 3
stjosephprey4us Posted September 17 Posted September 17 I'm surprised Dolly said this especially as a contributor on the album. However, I will say, if Bey wanted this album to make more noise, you would think she would promote it in some way shape or form after the second week of release… 2

Worry about getting Katy getting that first Grammy or even being nominated at ANY award show first. 19 3
Price of Fame Posted September 17 Posted September 17 Dolly is correct and it's funny to see people that have never cared about country music or the CMAs fuming over this 9 4
Triton Posted September 17 Posted September 17 Eh, Dolly is a gem and gave a very diplomatic answer. She can't really go against either. Bless her. 2 3
GoodGuyGoneGhetto Posted September 17 Posted September 17 Dolly, Baby… I wouldn't say she's completely wrong though.

Especially when Katy hasn't had even a top 30 hit after 3 releases from a new album. Remember, Beyonce went number #1 this year with a song AND album. 4 3
Goaty Posted September 17 Posted September 17 Yeah idk if I agree with her. Even if we label Beyonce's album as a "specialty" - it's still country, so why would that preclude her from being nominated? The album made a huge splash on release and yet not even a nomination? It just feels like there's a lot more to this decision that is independent of the actual music, and Dolly's answer pretty much sweeps all of that under the rug. Whether that's a conscious choice on her part or just something she hasn't really considered, I can't really say. 1 2 1
