Dolce Vita Posted September 15 Posted September 15 (edited) The self-proclaimed "Hoodrat Drew Barrymore" took to Instagram to share her thoughts on Chappell Roan's infamous TikTok detailing her concern about fan harassment: Quote This sounds really whack to me. I feel like she needs to take notes from Lady Gaga and treat her fans with the utmost respect because without them she has no career. This person sounds Hella entitled, young, and sooooo rude. People idolize you and your art and this is your attitude I'm sorry but YOU are ******* weird not your fans. Do you realize how lucky you are that you get to do this job. You're in your early 20's 'looking for an exit strategy' from the best job in the world for the few who blow up the way you have. Go work at Walmart Or Amazon and then we can see if you are singing the same tune. This is Privilege at its finest." thoughts? Edited September 19 by Dolce Vita 5

KatyPrismSpirit Posted September 15 Posted September 15 Telling artists 1000 times more successful and interesting than you to work at Walmart or Amazon... only because they have boundaries in regards to fame? The jokes write themselves. Miss Brooke, you are not and will never be on Chappell's level of fame, don't talk about her situation. You don't know what she feels like. Chappell has been very vocal about her own mental health too so show some freaking empathy like goodness gracious. Nobody wants to deal with stalking, being touched without consent or being followed around. This whole post also reads so bitter and reeks of jealousy. 6 12 4

Like just because she is lucky to have this job means she can't have boundaries and be vocal about it? This argument never made sense. 5
IBeMe Posted September 15 Posted September 15 Brooke needs to not use Gaga to score some kind of points against Chappell. This is like what we always talk about on ATRL about "pitting two women against eachother" type of thing. Frustrating to make that comparison to prove a lame point. 5
Minto Posted September 15 Posted September 15 (edited) why did i think brooke candy was a drag queen all this time…see when we make threads on nobodies Edited September 15 by Minto
ATRL Moderator MissedTheTrain Posted September 15 ATRL Moderator Posted September 15 Brooke is way out of line for this. It's funny she brought up Gaga, when the parasocial relationships Gaga used to have with her fans are almost a cautionary tale....it ended up overwhelming her, sending her into a depression/psychotic break and making her want to lock herself away in Malibu. Chappell mentioned people stalking her family and friends, asking her for a photo while she's in the middle of an argument with her girlfriend, and grabbing/kissing her at a bar. She has every right to call that stuff out. 9 4

єѕℓαм Posted September 15 Posted September 15 i'll give her a point for praising Gaga but still how she did it was wrong & her opinion is also wrong
State of Grace. Posted September 15 Posted September 15 (edited) Well, Gaga liked Chappell's Instagram post about it and she has been distancing herself from her fanbase for a decade now after completely losing it barely 5 years into her career. Didn't she just announce her retirement? Brave to be telling one of the biggest breakthrough artists of the year to "go work at walmart to see how it feels!!!" when Chappell was working at a donut shop years ago. GraceRandolph Posted September 15 Posted September 15 I understand where Chappell is coming from, but a lot of these popstars nowadays don't seem to be cut out for the popstar life. I think social media has made people forget how lucky and rare a position they are actually in. Fame is cheap and people assume a few negative fan interactions is a bigger problem than it actually is. 4
shyboi Posted September 15 Posted September 15 she justs keep typing big names in order to get some attention and it's clearly working, her pity party was alrrady annoying and now this 1
curiousladybug Posted September 15 Posted September 15 She spilled but y'all just like to stan and pay for music of the artists that disrespect you and humiliate you like you did with Nicki and this girl. 4
Blackout2006 Posted September 15 Posted September 15 "Shade"? Dude, this is a full-fledged @ at Chappell I'm already feeling scared for Chappell. It seems as if a wave of backlash is already onset to surge in at full speed. I really hope Chappell blocks out all the negativity and continues what she is doing.

Chappel needs to get back down to reality, she chased a major label and is now crying because she's seeing the success and fame she sought out? It doesn't add up. Her whole shtick of "I have security now…lame, fans stop being parasocial!!!" Is SO Gen Z and entitled. Even the Beyoncé and Gaga's of the world where 10x more famous than Chappel is right now didn't have this attitude. You can hate your fans all day and hate the intrusive nature of fame but literally saying you hate your fans and hate being asked for a picture etc is giving ungrateful. It's not a good look. She won't last long in the industry. Furthermore she doesn't have the charm. Can't see how anyone is saying she's the new Gaga, Gaga knew how to work fame and treat her fans. Chappel is a little ass girl who needs to grow up 8 2

It's the wave of backlash from her expressing disdain for the people who are literally making her entire career. These Gen Z pop stars just don't have what it takes. I can't imagine what her real backlash era will be like once the gays decide to switch like they always do. Poor thing.
Sugar-Rush Posted September 15 Posted September 15 Gaga: Really wish folks would learn to get their point across without bringing other pop girls into the mix. 1
