PrettyHurts Posted September 14 Posted September 14 I don't think they would make any of them a state
Jotham Posted September 14 Posted September 14 Puerto Rico probably has the highest chance but it's still very low. 1
IBeMe Posted September 14 Posted September 14 Puerto Rico in order to crush even further any chance of independence and consolidate American dominance over the territory. Additionally it is closer to the mainland and has a very Americanized society over all.
HelloLovato Posted September 14 Posted September 14 Politically, the legislative branch is not going to approve a 51st or 52nd state anytime soon. the risk of adding two/four senate seats that are both democrats is too great. Republicans would not allow it to move forward because they would struggle to ever have control.

Taste of Honey Posted September 14 Posted September 14 Puerto Rico would be the most likely. American Samoa will never be a state.

It has gone back and forth from being governed by liberals and conservatives just like America. The incumbent governor is a centrist liberal, while it's incumbent non-voting member of congress (and front runner for governor in 2024) is a conservative republican.
