Radical Pessimism Posted September 13 Posted September 13 "you don't even need the award" - Kelly Clarkson and she's right! 1
Raphy23 Posted September 13 Posted September 13 So true, they are born on country music but since they started pop country is gatekeeping them. Why would you need to drop all other genres in order for country radio to play you?

Yep, she's completely that right she doesn't need the award. She's Beyoncé. Though I feel like that type of thinking might be what not only kept her out of the CMA's (besides racism and general genre gatekeeping bias), but also keeps getting her shut out of AOTY.
Joaco95 Posted September 13 Posted September 13 why is she making it about her? is giving narcissist 1 5
Shinning Posted September 13 Posted September 13 The way she talked about herself the whole time I get the impression she somehow thinks she's on Beyoncé's level... 2 2 4

She was there for an interview about her show. Not Beyonce. I could see why she was caught off guard by the question. 1
Buffy Posted September 13 Posted September 13 What Kelly says is true… Look what happened to Taylor. You can't chase 2 rabbits (genres) which is what Taylor struggled with during RED and the beginning of her fall out with Borschetta. She said this herself. It's either country or pop, she couldn't have both under a country label. She chose pop. In fact, she went all the way pop with 1989 and never returned to country. 1

Huh? She is answering the question by drawing from her own personal experience with the country music industry. 1 6
okgo Posted September 13 Posted September 13 why wouldn't she talk about herself when she literally experienced a similar thing was she supposed to speak on behalf of Beyonce? she made her point perfectly 3

RealityBites Posted September 13 Posted September 13 (edited) they edited the hell out of it. That was not the whole thing. She had no clue about it and was surprised herself and said she even had success in country with a song (Reba and Kelly duet) and they didn't even wanna accept Kelly. That was her point. and for those saying she's only talking about her self….. well this interview was for Kelly! To promote HER Talkshow and this interviewer thought it was professional to hijack it with something so unrelated and never talked about her Talkshow Edited September 13 by RealityBites 1

I remember when Carrie had pop hype after bhc smashing but she didnt send anything else to pop so she could stay loyal to country
