SoldierofLove Posted September 12 Posted September 12 China has announced that it is ending the practice of allowing children to be adopted overseas, bringing uncertainty to families currently going through the process. A spokeswoman said that the rule change was in line with the spirit of international agreements. At least 150,000 Chinese children have been adopted abroad in the last three decades. More than 82,000 have gone to the US, a greater number than anywhere else in the world. https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/crmwrpe3m3do.amp Oh wow. Then what are they going to do with the kids who don't have families?
Gesamtkunstwerk Posted September 12 Posted September 12 Ethiopia has done the same, due to safety of the children. But from what I can tell, this was done because they got issues with a shrinking population. All international adoption has ended in my country, because they basically couldn't guarantee that the children you would've adopted haven't been trafficked in some way Idk, having close family members that are adopted I can't help to be sceptic towards international adoption tbh. It's more of an industry than many people think. 1 1
discreetinside Posted September 13 Posted September 13 This is pretty much expected with the current stance on foreign adoption worldwide and China itself facing population crisis with critically low birthrate with some of the province in China are having even lower birthrate than South Korea
