Britney comments on VMAs; praises, drags and fangirls over Sabrina Carpenter

I was with you when you were talking about empathy and that's why I didn't want to comment but painting this behavior as "punk" and "anti-establishment" is irresponsible. We are seeing a person that can't be bothered to wear her retainer to the point where her teeth have moved in her mouth. That can't be bothered to clean the makeup off her face or brush her hair. She doesn't have a coherent train of thought. Her voice... that weird croak combined with the baby voice from a grown woman... It's all so dark and upsetting. If the "Hollywood PR machine image" is someone looking clean and put together and not screaming among ruined furniture maybe we should expect that of her.

The very fact that a 42 year old woman doesn't worry at all about her professional path and spends her days stuck in the house coloring and dancing around in her living room... The conservatorship and the drugs did a number on her for sure but it was the same from 2005-2008 too. Erratic behavior, no responsibility, no motivation, just primal reacting to situations. Is she forever stuck in the mindset of a child?

This 1000000000%. Totally agree.

While many retired pop stars maintain a healthy online presence, Britney's actions raise concerns about her mental health.

If you are writing a paragraph concern trolling about someone whose mental health has been documented en masse, it is your own mental health you need to be concerned about.

That's precisely my point. I'm not trolling at all. I was in fact replying to @Blur who was stating this is 'normal' behavior and that Britney is just being 'punk' and 'anti-establishment.' Of course she is not, of course she has mental issues. I just can't with some posters saying we are subjecting her to this 'high standard' of PR-trained pop star perfection when all we are stating is concern about her very clear weird behavior (naturally, generated by all the very well-documented awful stuff she has endured during her life).

Your honor, lock her up.

I'll tell you what's concerning, homosexuals on their computers psychoanalyzing a person they only know from a screen. Yes, we can all tell that she's going through a rough time. And guess what? What we do know is enough to justify much much worse than being erratic and unwashed online (something people with perfectly fine lives do every single day in every part of the world).

If you're concerned with her well-being, that can be expressed without a psychological assessment or a shaming post about what a mess she is, and even calls to have her institutionalized are ESPECIALLY disgusting knowing her recent history.

There are people in here calling her a meth head because her teeth have drifted apart from not wearing a retainer. I was talking about ATRLers concern trolling, not genuine concern from the rest of the world. I literally said in my first line

Yes, we can all tell that she's going through a rough time.

Yet, you're in here asking "Is she okay?" The answer is yes, she's okay AND she's going through the aftermath of what was done to her. If she was glammed up and wore her retainer, would that work for you? Would that let you know that she fixed her trauma?:lakitu:

She is most definitely not okay. And again, most people here aren't pretending she's perfect or camera-ready online when it's clear she has no interest in being a celebrity anymore. All we're saying is she's not behaving normally. It's not just the way she presents herself; it's the way she speaks, the way she writes, the incoherent ramblings, the childish posts, the facebook mom stolen pictures, the weird dances, etc. Honestly, how can you say she's okay? She has definitely not resolved her trauma, and that's precisely everyone's point here. And to the other poster saying "a bunch of gays should stop psychoanalyzing her": I mean, isn't that why we're here? To discuss topics that interest us? Britney Spears, whether she wants it or not right now, is and always will be a public figure, and as a female pop singer, she will naturally be relevant to the LGBTQ+ community. Some people here should stop with the condescending attitude.

It's fine to show concern, I understand that, but to turn around and start questioning why she hasn't gotten it together, if she's on drugs, or calling her crazy because she blurts out her stream of consciousness. There's even a post here from someone saying she should be locked up. Do those sound like appropriate comments when discussing someone we DON'T KNOW? And what we do know more than explains her current state and behavior.

Please realize you can be going through trauma healing or fighting internal demons and still be okay. Okay doesn't mean great. It can mean she showers twice a week, but is emotionally available to her children. It can mean not having a job, but working on your healing. Some of the comments here were VILE and EXTREMELY ignorant re: human nature that it comes off as trolling and pure hatred.

Speaking of condescension, would also like to note that you said you: 1000000000% agree with the following:

Quote

Is she forever stuck in the mindset of a child?

Don't you think that's a little condescending to say about a global legend like Britney with several lifetimes' worth of accomplishments?

Only Atrl would find something wrong and call her unhinged for this video :toofunny3:

to be fair, it's kind of the exact opposite. only atrl is where you find so many people insisting her posts aren't bizarre.

Do you guys forget what Britney went through for so long? It's not her fault that she acts this way. But it's clear she needs help & I hope someday she gets it!

You would've thought Britney called Sabrina a c you next Tuesday and that she should be torched. Y'all are in here writing mental examinations. It's not that serious. :deadbanana2:

Y'all need to learn to read the ******* room :rip: She's out here trying to be cute, interact with her fans and acknowledge her public persona just for people to butt in giving their unsolicited rude opinions on her personal life and struggles they know nothing about. And then you go and wonder why she's retired and wants nothing to do with this kind of life, lliteral worms for brains

Why should a 42 year old woman who has accomplished more than almost any individual on earth worry about her professional path? Your line of thinking is uniquely that of a middle-class person and does not represent a clean moral view of what should and shouldn't be done at any point in anyone's life, no offense
