The Slayer Posted September 12 Posted September 12 Amelle responded to a podcast Keisha did about how she left the group. Amelie has been silent for over a decade and said this: 1
Migs Posted September 12 Posted September 12 Her statement actually makes a lot of sense and we all know Keisha's history of being a bully, so it's really plausible. 7 7
Gelato Posted September 12 Posted September 12 I only care about Mutya, Keisha, Siobhan and (to some extent) Heidi, this khia can stay performing at Sunderland Pride 3 11 2
Burn Posted September 12 Posted September 12 I mean it's always been known that Keisha was the troublemaker so this isn't shocking. I'd trust Amelle's version of events between the two. 3 2
Popular Post ChooseyLover Posted September 12 Popular Post Posted September 12 Keisha was miles above her mates when it came to work ethic. They couldn't stand being in a group with a woman as talented and hardworking as her, they probably weren't able to keep up with her and weren't as ambitious as her either, which is fine. Siobhan admitted this is the reason she left the first time around. And honestly it explains why Amelle and Heidi are now both mothers and completely retired from the industry. They had no creative drive whatsoever. Keisha is a tough cookie but she's no bully. She is very disciplined. That woman has Beyoncé level vocals and is an insane perfectionist, totally devoted to the group during her most formative years. That band was everything to her and she got dumped. She was done so wrong by everyone involved, her mates and management. But time put everyone in their place. Imagine Beyoncé stuck in a group with Amelle and Heidi. They would have never made it past the recording sessions lol. 9 17 3 1
Hooker Barbie Posted September 12 Posted September 12 The main thing sticking out for me in Amelle's comments is her stating the label didn't want to work with Keisha. Which label is she talking about? Island, the label that immediately signed Keisha as a solo act? Or Roc Nation, who dropped the Sugababes after Keisha was replaced - the label that Amelle and Heidi suddenly started saying they were never signed to in the first place, despite a lot of the Get Sexy promo being based around this big US signing that had happened? If Island didn't want to work with her, they wouldn't sign her for solo work - and Roc Nation dropping the band is a huge sign it was Keisha they wanted to work with, not Amelle and Heidi. 14

Right, like are we supposed to see the label/management that was responsible for the Sweet 7 era as reasonable people? Edited September 12 by toast 1
Gelato Posted September 12 Posted September 12 Keisha is more of a girls' girl to me. She might have been demanding in the group because of her drive but I don't recall her having any feuds with other celebrities. She's been friends with Girls Aloud for two decades now despite the media trying to fuel a rivalry at the time. Meanwhile someone was rotting in front of her TV and being shady on Twitter. I believe Keisha. 2

It wasn't Roc Nation, Keisha said it wasn't them in the podcast. 1
xokuba Posted September 12 Posted September 12 Why is she trying to stir the pot if she didn't reveal anything new or even bring some receipts to the Keisha bully narrative? I liked Amelle during her run but it seems like everything changed for her once the Sugababes band became a brand and there was a potential for her own solo success. Same with Heidi, just without the solo endeavor. It would explain why there's no credits but Keisha's on Catfights & Spotlights and S7 is a complete mess. 5
xokuba Posted September 12 Posted September 12 This is the video that Amelle commented on (originally on IG). I heard the whole podcast episode and Keisha didn't say anything wrong and she didn't name any names, said it was the label's decision, to continue without her. 7
theweekend Posted September 12 Posted September 12 thank god amelle cleared it up. it was the label decision to keep amelle/Heidi to find a new member because of Keisha's drive/demanding to keep creative control over their sound while the label wanted profit in a poppier sound compared to catfights (and it was much clear because GA then the Saturdays were having bigger eras in a strict pop sound around 2008-2010). Amelle/Heidi took a more passive approach to it (even Keisha pointed it out) that they were happy with their sound but didn't take the lead over this topic. I do love Keisha (she's my favorite member from sugababes) but it's been past and done. we need her to focus on new music with the og sugababes and deliver it. 1 3

I'm watching the podcast now and I'm confused by Amelle's reaction. Keisha didn't say anything wrong about any of the girls, she even confirmed some of the stuff the ATRL Sugababes 4.0 stans told me when we discussed the break up. She even said Amelle reached out to her and told her she was happy for their success. 1

It's clear that she pushed everyone in the group to perform to the best of their abilities, and some of them (Heidi and Amelle) took that as Keisha bullying them. And then of course that label stuck because a black woman has to be a complete pushover or else she's angry (or a bully in this case). Edited September 12 by BraveNewSeth 3 4 1
prézli Posted September 12 Posted September 12 Amelle was the worst member of the group, even Jade was better, so I don't care what she says.
surprisecentres Posted September 12 Posted September 12 the situation between these girls has always felt like the label pitting them against each other 5
ItsJustMe. Posted September 12 Posted September 12 Keisha is messy we still love her tho ugh we need a docuseries one day with the TRUTH

Also this. If "the truth" (whatever that is) is really gonna exonerate Amelle and make Keisha out to be the bad guy, why doesn't she just come out and say it? I'm sure whatever NDA they had to sign, if any, has expired by now, so what's stopping her from just spilling everything? 2

HASHTAGPOW Posted September 12 Posted September 12 She should write this into a song. Call Heidi for a collab. 1
LovaticSwiftie Posted September 12 Posted September 12 I hate these Catfights between them, because I liked them all and all of them deserved the Spotlights. And I'm probably in the minority here, but I actually loved Amelle and her voice. It's sad that Sugababes 3.0 ended with someone probably pitting them against each other.

J-esper Posted September 12 Posted September 12 I find it funny both Heidi and Amelle react in their ways after all these years. I can imagine Keisha being headstrong and there may have been situations she was difficult to work with. I think it just stings for these ladies that they pulled the plug a decade ago abd they have seen MKS fight for the name and now have all the love and praise during these touring oppertunties. They come across as sore losers since they are not in people's mouth. I get it must sting if you were also a part of the succes, but it's not like they put in the work the last decade, went through legal battles etc. Amelle and in extension Heidi should just be happy they are part of British pop history. 3
