I mean I don't see her addressing the fact she chooses to explain her support of an abusive misogynist by talking about how she's raising a young woman in this world. I don't see her mentioning that she specifically chose him because she wanted to recreate her earlier chart success, not because she believes him or has any proof of his innocence. This woman is a danger to young girls. Her warped, third age brand of feminism isn't the message she thinks it is, and the fact that the public have taken to showing her their justified disgust and disappointment in person is a step toward accountability. I hope every young  victim that has never been believed, have had their truths stolen by systems, and lived to see their abuser's thrive hear these boo's and know that they aren't alone. Putting that man on a platform like hers is an insult to SA victims the world over and people will not tolerate it any longer. In celebrating her entire career MTV and VMA are throwing an unnecessary spotlight on Luke, because he is responsible for most of it. I hope Kesha hears these boo's and understands that she is believed, loved and not dismissed as a hysterical woman. Quite frankly **** Katy Perry, **** Luke.

Think you should listen to your classless, witless mother and touch some grass on this one. Not sure if you've ever heard the term "not everybody can be wrong". It's great you still hold empathy for her, especially when she has so little for others, but stand on the side of decency and stop defending the morally indefensible.

This Katyshart circlejerk during this era is pathetic. The one shared braincell working overtime to excuse all of her DISGUSTING decisions. No one cares that her music is trash nowadays or that she hasn't had a hit in years. This is stan wars bullshit and doesn't have an impact in real life. But Katy CHOOSING to collaborate with a known RAPIST  and ABUSER in every aspect (of a former friend i might add) and on a white feminist empowerment song , but also QUEERBAITING during this whole messy era is f*cking IMMORAL, APPALLINGINEXCUSABLE, OFFENSIVE  and HURTFUL to SA survivors, future female musicians in the industry and the queer community. Take the mf L, educate yourselves and be f*cking decent human beings.

Are the audience members at 0:46 looking at the booers?

That was pretty good though from speech to looks (her speaking voice was weird though)

I like many were rooting for her prior to the Luke news but I still had my reservations. One thing I wanted from her was to shed this narrative of her being a flop. Shes always talking about numbers, charts, accolades - trying to prove her worth and it really just sets her up for failure because people know those are things that validate her as an artist.

I need so much more from an artist than a #1, a Grammy whatever it is. Shes positioned herself to be an easy target when something doesn't do well because everybody knows how much she carries these things as a badge of honor. Should she be proud of all she's acomplished? Absolutely, but I don't need you to reaffirm your status everytime you open your mouth. Now it feels shes in an endless cycle of trying to prove herself even though shes putting up the front that none of that matters.

She talks about the internet hating her, telling people to touch grass, literally EVERYTIME she opens her mouth it comes back to this tired narrative. I can't speak for her because shes tried reassuring everyone that she's confident in her choices and where shes at now but to me it screams insecurity. The music being bad for over a decade aside how could I ever stan something that feels like a blatant lie. I couldn't imagine stanning someone who has allowed themselves to become a punching bag for so many years and almost embrace being the poster girl of what it is to be a hasbeen. I truly feel this above everything is what killed her career because if she wasn't so obsessed with being a MAIN POP GIRLY she could have actually released music with some substance and not served up something thats even blander than your usual h&m radio fodder.

Like think about it how come everytime Bey, Gaga, Taylor, Adele, Rih or literally any other mildly succesful popstar opens their mouth they aren't trying to fill the room with everything they've acomplished in the past and yes this is the Vanguard so celebrate but this is her everytime she opens her mouth :noparty:

All I said was that she wasn't worthy of receiving an award because she's true. She doesn't have the talent or artistic vision to produce constantly good work.

If anybody is coping with their current predicament, it's Katy. Not me.

what i'm saying :rip: i've never seen a popstar brag about her alleged "long" career and 9 #1s every single time she opens her mouth like is that all she has in her career? :rip:

and always being passive aggressive about everything. all she talks about are her #1s and her "haters"

I'm actually not convinced she was being booed. I noticed the same sound throughout the broadcast for different artists and performances too, I'm not sure what it was.

honey the logic behind it is easy.. she wanted a hit after flopping which is fine... she just doesn't care about kesha or allegations about ra*e or anything about DrLuk outside the studio... she just wanted a hit no matter what and that's how it is and that's why she worked with him and that's why she dogged the question on that interview....in this era in time where celebs are under cancel culture, people would have an opinion and would check celebs no matter what...

not even 2 hours and there is a viral tweet against her with more than 100k and that's is not trashing her accomplishments...that's just general pop stan culture opinion saying she didn't deserved that award.
also don't act like she is the only girl in this industry getting hate bc of how they act or what they do....Camila, Nicki , Jessy Nelson, etc... either people didn't accept their apologies or they never adress the issue... well Katy is on that boat.

did she really dodge it when she did mention he's one of her regular collaborators from the past and emphasized the "teenage dream" era in the same answer? like it's so obvious and desperate... pathetic even:deadbanana2:

And who are you to judge that? Her music videos have always been praised and appreciated, extremely popular and she has made a undeniable impact on pop culture. This is factual information and gets taken into consideration before this award gets passed on, who are you disprove that?

I heard the booing too. She deserved that award but the timing tried to overshadow big time the fact that she did. Her decisions have been appalling but you can tell her career means something to her and last night she fought for it. It was compelling.

WHY PPL HATE HER SO MUCH ?

- she worked with dr luke aka a disgusting pig rapist on her new album (all songs except one)

- she don't believe kesha was raped

- she thinks she only has haters because we are all jealous of her #1 hits and alleged long career

- because of working with dr rape, her 7 stans are running with the "dr luke is proven innocent" and "kesha lied about being raped" narrative loosely 24/7 which is such a disgusting and very dangerous thing

etc

lastly, her music sucks since 2017 and just  keeps getting worse each release

I am all for accountability culture and she's a dummy for working with Luke, but that was not cute.

Dang now that I listen closely the boos begin but the cheers quickly cover them up and you could still hear them every now and then.

Somebody with ears and eyes.

I'll give her Last Friday Night and 365, though. Great videos.

These awards are deeply unserious.

Saying this right in the middle of the 143 campaign is WILD :deadbanana:. She sounded extremely bothered and pressed while saying this too.

Ironically, she has never served the latter two things or at least not for a very long time and arguably been serving too much of the former two as of late.

We can tell by her tone-deaf decisions and corresponding responses that she is in fact not listening to any noise. The audacity to pretend to be a role model for women after backstabbing her former friend and employing a rapist.

This is hilarious considering how she is constantly reminding everyone how unbothered she allegedly is. She seems very online for someone recommending others to touch grass.

Overall, a totally hypocritical speech.

Great analysis and absolutely not biased!
