ATRL Administrator Ryan Posted September 11 ATRL Administrator Posted September 11 Dawn Richard, a former bandmate of Diddy and member of Danity Kane, filed a lawsuit alleging sexual and physical abuse by the music mogul. Richard claims Diddy manipulated her career advancement and witnessed him violently abuse his ex-girlfriend, Cassie. Richard also alleges Diddy subjected her to abuse, including forced rehearsals and inappropriate touching. https://www.tmz.com/2024/09/11/new-diddy-accuser-claims-sexual-physical-abuse/?adid=social-tw Updated with the full 55-page lawsuit. okgo Posted September 11 Posted September 11 absolutely horrifying descriptions. HOW is this demon NOT in jail yet 4
Lucky#17 Posted September 11 Posted September 11 Hope all the ladies of DK are able to get the justice they deserve / are finding peace if they've simmered from the spotlight entirely. 1 3
Antisocialites Posted September 11 Posted September 11 terrifying. protect black women at all costs. 3 1
YourFavoriteWeapon Posted September 11 Posted September 11 I love Dawn so much and knew she was alluding to something big with how she spoke about Cassie's situation. I'm praying for her. 1
Kool_Aid_King Posted September 11 Posted September 11 The real NOLA star they should've given the Halftime show for Hope she gets justice and proud of her for speaking up. Insane details I read. Wow. 2 1
satellites.™ Posted September 11 Posted September 11 She next to Cassie likely has the biggest case, witnessing it in real time it used to feel like he held her hostage after Making The Band.
skeeyee Posted September 11 Posted September 11 I'm sure she's seen and experienced some horrible things seeing how she was with him the longest out of the DK girls 1
professor2000 Posted September 11 Posted September 11 I believe her. But…you know ppl gonna ask why she decided to work with him again on MTB 2020 (reboot). Thats the only part that has me like hmmmm. I could understand her doing Dirty Money because technically she owed Diddy for bailing her out of her pre-DK record deal. But…to work with him again in 2020, even as a guest star…seems like an interesting choice. Unless he threatened her then too (which is very possible). https://thatgrapejuice.net/2020/03/dawn-richard-joins-diddys-making-the-band-reboot/ She always seemed very supportive and vocal about Cassie's case, so I had a feeling she knew some things. 1

I've seen her so many times in NYC in small venues and she put on better shows than people in arenas tbqh. 2

It's simply strategic timing/filing. Lots of people don't want to sue these celebs for their wrongdoings because of the likelihood that they'll wake away unscathed. Now that Diddy has been exposed she has more of a chance to get justice out of this. Let's not victim blame; the court system is very flawed, the industry is too. 9
theweekend Posted September 11 Posted September 11 I believe her for sure. after Cassie's allegations everything is possible with Diddy.
Rush Posted September 11 Posted September 11 Must've been hard for her to deal with the narrative that she went behind the other girls' backs, knowing what she dealt with
blaggot Posted September 11 Posted September 11 god he's a ****ing monster I'm proud of her for speaking up

Not victim blaming, mainly curious to why that was. As a longtime DK/Dawn fan, it was a surprise to me she returned to say the least. But also being someone who works in music industry, I understand these situations are complicated…esp when execs are dangling your career in front of your face. Was mainly curious what kinda of power her held at the time, considering she was let out the contract. I feel like it might've been more to the story…than just her wanting to appear on the show.
professor2000 Posted September 11 Posted September 11 SN: …not her feature with Kimbra coming out today too. The timing…. 😭

As you know sometimes to move in the industry you have to go through gatekeepers, even if they have a predatory past. It’s not fair but how the business unfortunately works.

It makes so much sense why Aundrea went from loving her career to wanting nothing to do with it. Aundrea and Shannon have completely left the industry. I would love to know what the girls of Dream (his original DK in the 2000s) went through. None of them are in the industry anymore other than Melissa to an extent.
