I hope she knows America is not the world and many of us don't attach Die Young to those awful crimes :monkey: Warrior really can't get any love from her. It sucks but I respect it and understand it.

Wow, love hearing her speak so candidly about Die Young for the first time. She really didn't cut any corners and confirmed what most of us have known for years.

I genuinely have never looked at the charts, because I believe once I put out the music, it doesn't belong to me anymore. I feel like obsessing about a chart is obsessing about something that's out of my control, and art is not something we can control. Maybe it's a flaw that I don't chase that type of thing, but it is what it is. I didn't make that album for chart success, I made it because I had to.

It's nice that she never really seemed to care about chasing the next hit and always remained true to her art :clap3: Joyride just hit 50M streams and I'm sure nobody was expecting the song to do this well. But Kesha's personality was always one of her strongest assets, so a song this Kesha-coded always had the potential for a good reception

Did she by any chance do a video interview? :bird:

The subtle shade towards chart-obsessed artists :eli:

This is so heartbreaking to read :weeps::

Then in my personal life, we're going on year seven and eight of my own litigation. It felt almost like when you're swimming underwater and you're not sure if you're going to make it to the surface. That's where I was emotionally. I was testing my limits of what a human has the capacity to deal with.

The POWER this has :jonny::

But this is the first single I'm putting out 100 percent as myself. There's no one else telling me what I can or can't do, what I can or can't look like, what songs they think should make the record, or, quite frankly, what songs are going to start playing on the radio without my consent. This is the first time I get to really represent myself the way I want to be represented with my art, with my voice, with my pen game, and with my production. Everything is mine. So the fact that people are responding well to this song is so ******* healing.

All her lead choices were correct, as unfortunate timing was for Die Young it was the most "lead single" sounding song.

Eat the Acid was the perfect chance for her to drop something left field and unexpected, nothing was going to smash so it didn't matter.

I really wouldn't mind just a big huge tell all interview from her. Not because I want tea but simply bc I would love just to her perspective and insight on everything. I love her so much :weeps:

Love this interview :jonny:

Praying was such a reset and I adore that entire album.

I do kind of have a hard time believing the Die Young portion, though. The title is featured prevalently in the chorus.

She tweeted (and deleted) that she was forced to sing certain lyrics of the song back in 2012 already and then clarified she was referring to "die young" specifically.

With  Ke$ha's "Die Young" pulled from a number of radio stations in the wake of the shooting tragedy in Newtown, Conn., the RCA Records singer had her own criticism for the hit song on Tuesday.

"i understand. I had my very own issue with 'die young' for this reason," she wrote on  Twitter on Tuesday evening. "I did NOT want to sing those lyrics and I was FORCED TO."

"After such a tragic event I was feeling a lot of emotion and sadness when I said I was forced to sing some of the lyrics to 'Die Young.' Forced is not the right word," Ke$ha wrote on her website. "I did have some concerns about the phrase 'die young' in the chorus when we were writing the lyrics especially because so many of my fans are young and that's one reason why I wrote so many versions of this song."

she would have to be extremely careful. I'm sure with all the years of legal stuff she's been through she's super cautious about saying anything that could slightly get her in trouble
