Unfortunately, caring for the people in the Congo doesn't win you as many social media credit points so leftists will ignore.

Social media doesn't translate into real life, and I wish people would understand that.

I'm sure thousands and thousands of people have already preordered the new model.

Who do think the 91k likes are? Pretty much all of the leftists left on Twitter.  :deadbanana2:

Let's find out together.

Congo 's government is questioning Apple about the tech company's knowledge of "blood minerals" from a conflict zone in the African country that could be smuggled into its supply chains and is demanding answers within three weeks.

"The iPhones, Mac computers and accessories that Apple sells to its customers around the world rely on supply chains that are too opaque, and that are tainted by the blood of the Congolese people," the lawyers said.

Apple, which has a market value of around $2.6 trillion, has denied using minerals from mines and regions where human rights violations take place, saying it conducts business ethically and "responsibly" sources minerals in Congo and neighboring countries.

I can kinda see that pink one flying off the shelves already, don't think they've ever had a more girly pop iphone :deadbanana2:

How about vapes? Those are arguably worse than iPhones

You know Twitter/X is dead when 100,000 likes is considered 'viral'

Notwithstanding the human rights violations in Congo, people really don't need to buy a $1000 phone every year :rip: I blame Apple specifically for normalising overconsumption

And I'm sure they all liked the tweets from an iPhone. Performative.

i feel for the people of Congo as well as other issues but the older I get the more I realize nothing really changes. Congo even if saved ,there will then be another country disenfranchised later for the next cause. Never ending cycle.

Apple keeps releasing the same phone every year with barely any new innovation and their brainwashed sheep-like fans eat it up every time.

I've been using iphone for +10 years, but if they don't shake things up, I'm going to switch to the google pixel next time, which seems way superior than any iphone in the market tbh

Let's hope she gets those signal virtue likes. I'm sure her clothes are also made locally and ethically, certainly she's vegan too right? I'm sure she also knows her chocolate and coffee come from...

These people's personalities revolves around picking up  a charity case and then pretending to care and do something about it but ultimately they don't have the will to actually do some change and influence others to do the same, because that is hard work

Interesting. This is news to me.

Honestly though, most large companies of any sector always have some cheap questionable sourcing for their products. The government's in these places will lap up the money and ignore the issues though, so maybe people should start off by blaming them. Most of Africa is corrupt as well and has been for a long time (look at the damn slave trade), so that tweet is just a bit basic twitter user seeking some self-gratification whilst riling people up over nothing.

You think these privileged white people and POC from 1st world countries give a **** about anyone but themselves?

Even the "ones that do" are all performative from Palestine to Congo to Senegal. They're very self-serving

Heck, look at ATRL, these very comments

The funny thing is your countries have that status because of stolen resources from the very countries you're disparaging

That was April mama, did they meet the 3 week deadline?

the last paragraph you quoted says Apple denied it. Case closed?
