spiritboy Posted October 15 Posted October 15 Everybody involved is responsible for this bomb, including Gaga. If this slayed, it would've been Gaga's Joker. It's still Gaga's Joker though. Anyway, it's best she move on from this asap and concentrate on her musical career. And if i were Gaga, i'd stay away from musicals for a while and try a different genre when picking up a movie role.

Usually that would be true, but trust me, had it been a success, it would have never been because of her. She's way too minimal in her role to justify it. Now that we know she signed before a script was finished, it's fair to say that it's Todd Philips and Phoenix failure. Not for his acting or Todd's directing (it's a very well acted and made movie) but for not executing well their vision or connecting with audience. I still do think it def doesn't deserve to be such a flop and really suffered of a negative WOM and buzz. I've seen way worse movies the last few years. But as Furiosa has shown it, sometimes it just doesn't connect right away. 1 2

Especially when Taylor and her awkward struts, surprised faces and off key singing can blast through 93M on a single weekend at the box office. Something Gaga wishes she could do in that short amount of time. Let me get this straight. Your statement is that Taylor's Eras movie grossing more in its first weekend domestically is super impressive and means there was more interest in seeing her in that movie when the international gross of JFAD is $113 million, more than the $80 million of the Eras tour film And don't suddenly change your narrative. By your logic, there's more interest in seeing Gaga for 30+ minutes in a panned movie than there is to see Taylor singing off-key outside of the US. So yeah, I actually do think it's the drag I thought it was. Edited October 15 by Doctor Dick 1 1

But as Furiosa has shown it, sometimes it just doesn't connect right away. The idea of entirely crediting Gaga for this movie if it'd been a success was always absurd. The first movie was a massive hit and had a lot of cultural relevance already, a sequel was always going to generate interest no matter what. But of course Liddos were EXTREMELY arrogant as usual and it's been hilarious seeing them trying to rewrite history in the last few weeks Edited October 15 by Enrique523

Todd Phillips is solely responsible for this bomb but Bradley Cooper wasn't solely responsible for the success of ASIB? Typical Liddo hypocrisy: if a project Gaga is a part of succeed, it's of course entirely because of her. If the project flops, then it's absolutely not her fault whatsoever somehow. Funny how that works 5

Not taking about quality but about big budget movie that miss their audience connection independently from their quality but maybe more on lack of interest from audience on said sequels. 1
BOOMBAYAH Posted October 15 Posted October 15 My sister needs to do a few indie, European film festival "best picture" bait projects before doing another big budget movie. I feel like if she was not Gaga, this film would have ruined her career entirely. She needs to pick her projects wisely.

Furiosa, a movie with huge action set pieces is not made for the masses, but a movie with jazz musical numbers and prison rape scenes is?

Gaga should stop chasing an Oscar and just work with great upcoming creative directors. I don't really care for most baity films.
shark_heather Posted October 15 Posted October 15 Gaga's fault or not , she is still part of one of the biggest bombs ever made Its kind of iconic if you ask me

It's not really the plot I wanted and considering several people said they went explicitly anti-incels with this sequel....I don't know who the audience for this film will be? Even Gaga's fans are crying about her not being utilized enough and the false advertising/billing nnnn. It's def turning profit but it's absolutely not coming close to 1B. Grossing on par with the first film was already a huge challenge with it being a musical, but this just confirms it. ⚰️ 3
