Shes as much to blame. what kind of logic is that? someone would have taken the spot anyway, if you get hired to work in a company and the job position is simply bad would you blame the employer who JOINED something that was existing and would have existed even without them?

Considering the budget of the movie and the franchise, this is historically probably the biggest flop for any pop girl movie. Surely Glitter takes the cake there? But it's up there.

traherne Posted October 5 Posted October 5 Warner should embrace the flop like Paramount did with Mommie Dearest back in the 80s and promote it as a "so-bad-it's-good campfest". They should even retitle it Joker 2: Razzie à Deux 1

Even when it was first shown at festivals and word of mouth was not great, the general expectation seemed to be for a mediocre underperformer. John Slayne Posted October 5 Posted October 5 i just don't understand why the studio gave a greenlight to it being a musical. it's a dying genre, even West Side Story tanked and that was directed by steven spielberg and was actually acclaimed. and then they paid Gaga millions to be in the movie only to cut her material? everything about this is a mess, i was so excited when the first trailer came out but now i'm not sure if i can be bothered to even see it. 1
halcyonday Posted October 5 Posted October 5 (edited) 'Boring': Gaga's movie divides critics https://www.news.com.au/entertainment/movies/boring-gagas-movie-divides-critics/news-story/6a50e2d21beaad4db9b86ebdb5709396 Quote Lady Gaga has a flop movie on her hands, it seems. The pop star is starring in Joker 2, which is the sequel to the hugely successful DC superhero movie that proved a massive hit with critics and fans alike. Sadly for Gaga, she's hitched her name to the sequel, which is being labelled a "bomb" by critics who have savaged the flick now the review embargo is up. The movie, which made the controversial decision to be a musical, has failed to impress critics and is currently clinging to a "Fresh" rating by just 1 per cent after initially debuting to 59 per cent on Rotten Tomatoes. This is what happens when a director is not simply inept but chooses to actively antagonize his audience.
