This will burn out very quickly because the talk around the film is very negative hence less people will want to see it. Plus, you have to remember the first film did 250M opening weekend and the budget was 150M less So Joker 2 indeed is a major flop. Next week is going to be even more tragic Edit: remember also that this film needs 570M to BREAK EVEN, so even if it does 500M that's still a flop because the budget and marketing is so huge. If it makes $500 million from box office sales alone... then it is 100% going to make a profit, once this goes on streaming and is bought by private TV channels in Europe for broadcast....
Navyofbadgals Posted October 3 Posted October 3 WOM was going to be terrible anyways but I bet they lost out on a good amount of money by premiering at a festival earlier the mixed reviews from there already made it far less appealing for people to see. Whilst movies like megalopolis and borderlands are going to be seen as bigger bombs, this is undoubtedly shaping up to be the biggest disappointment. Most viewed WB trailer in 24 hours, a decent promo cycle and initial expectations of this easily outdoing the Joker 1 debut; to now potentially struggling to even surpass Joker1s debut in its entire run a disaster truly

People act like the movie is debuting with 140k... lol. It's not even globally out yet. If not $500 million it'll certainly goss between $280-400 million then. It's not a bomb-bomb...
State of Grace. Posted October 3 Posted October 3 The fact that it went from +150M to this...WOM really killed it. I wonder if it will even break even? Now go stand in the corner and think about what you did, Todd 1

It's not a bomb-bomb... anything below 400M is below the floor of a break even point (which I'm like 99% sure is above 400M anyways). Below break even point = loss; and given that before this year Joker 1 was the highest rated R movie with 1B to a sequel on track to not make profit.. baby that's a bomb-bomb Also the 140M prediction is from deadline, and given the fact that they are at times optimistic too.. 140M might even be generous too! now if it does make 500M it won't be a success given expectations but it'll probably not be a major loss, that in the current state seems near impossible though

Now go stand in the corner and think about what you did, Todd They should've never trusted his hack ass, the first one wasn't good and he has an absolutely terrible track record even without Joker. The fact that they gave him and notorious set leaver Joaquin a lot of creative freedom is a costly mistake to say the least could've just made a basic movie with him and a Gaga killing people and causing chaos and instead they made a pretentious courtroom drama with poorly utilized musical sequences.. OOF 1
Lil' Oz Posted October 3 Posted October 3 Gaga should have been Harley Quinn in Matt Reeves' DC films and not in this untalented idiot's "film"

Calvin Posted October 3 Posted October 3 That one user scrambling for his/her life with unrealistic predictions. This film is not doing 3.57 multiplier.

OOF To be honest, I enjoyed the first one with its flaws I can totally see where the criticism is coming from though. And yeah, I was personally hoping for a basic Mad Love drama following Harleen's transformation into Lee and becoming a villain terrorizing the city with Joker. The musical hallucinations could have replicated the madness in their heads and shown us the romanticized abusive relationship. Instead, we got...whatever the script is. I know Todd does not want to follow the comics, but sometimes less is more. 2
Sannie Posted October 3 Posted October 3 (edited) The way I have tickets to see this tomorrow and I lowkey don't want to have to sit through it if it's as bad as everyone is saying. Who over at WB needs to be fired? So many bad decisions were made for this entire thing and not even the cast seems to be all that interested in it. Miss Gaga really needs to try and step away from movies directed by men, me thinks. It's insane to me that after working with Gaga on ASIB, Phillips decided to just not use her? I'm curious if the studio is to blame for her being cut so much because they feared it was too Gaga heavy? Edited October 3 by Sannie
alex_katycat Posted October 3 Posted October 3 (edited) Is this even going to reach 250 million $ worldwide? Budget $190–200 million Edited October 3 by alex_katycat
Mr. Blue_Shirt Posted October 3 Posted October 3 The way i wouldn't be shocked if Joker 2 couldn't outgross Aquaman 2's WW gross This is a DISASTER 1

From what I heard now they are awkwardly placed in a movie that already feels too long i feel like both movies dont follow the comics but this one goes out of its way to be almost against the fans/comics and that is just a bad move shouldve just been more lowkey with some of the answers and premiered later. This was going to be a disaster anyways but they lost some good millions for having bad WOM generate for a good month 1
