He sucks at telling original stories. As you said the first one is just Scorsese dress up with the Joker/DC brand slapped on it. If they had to make a sequel, he probably should've ripped off Bonnie & Clyde next. It still wouldn't have touched the original which is a lighting in a bottle type success but would've probably faired better than whatever the **** this is.
JonginBey Posted October 1 Posted October 1 The way the opening numbers DECREASE every time I scroll past this thread . The moment it was announced it would be a musical, I knew it was done for. 2

lgaga1fan Posted October 1 Posted October 1 I know this thread is a Gaga circlejerk atm but can the movie people actually talk for a sec. Do y'all find it interesting that this might be yet ANOTHER 2019 sequel that underperforms? We've had Shazam, Aquaman, The Marvels, now possibly Joker 2. Also I think Mufasa is gonna bomb too. I just find it interesting. I feel like all of these movies took WAY too long to come out.
ALA Posted October 1 Posted October 1 After seeing it last night... screening it at Venice was a mistake. That killed hype. The movie just isn't as strong as what it could have been. A shame. Someone else should have wrote it with Phillips directing.

I honestly think the only major mistake with the movie is that there's a few too many musical sequences (the diegetic ones) that could have been axed or just cut down. I felt like this was a step up for the movie because the supporting cast actually had **** to do and weren't just props to make Arthur's life more miserable. All of the big musical numbers were great and actually made sense for this version of The Joker imo. I don't wanna say much here tho bc spoiler culture ruins stuff for people. 1

The many members of the Academy of Motions Pictures Arts and Sciences didn't get the memo, hopefully they will this go around. I actually thought this was going to be a bit of a Bonnie & Clyde type two-hander considering all of the noise around Gaga's involvement. Come to find out she's not in the movie much at all
