To be fair the first movie was very well received when it first premiered (the reviews later fell but that was partly due to other factors). Won the golden lion at Venice festival and went on to receive 11 Oscar nominations with Joaquin winning best actor. Not to

mention the obvious (grossed over a billion), so I don't fault her for going for it.

 

They just completely dropped the ball with the sequel (imo it didn't even need a sequel in the first place and should've been an one-off but alas)
