The difference is because I still view this all as entertainment 💀 and im not making assumptions about Taylor based on what she hasn't said and/or who she hangs out with in public. I care about politics too and if Taylor doesn't endorse Kamala I'll be very disappointed. If she endorses trump (which won't happen) I'll unstan. But I'll actually wait until making assumptions

Honestly, deep down in my heart, I hope Taylor soon speaks up about Kamala and endorses her. Taylor is very very powerful today in the U.S with the youngsters., and her vote could help a lot. The future of women, POC, and the LGBTI community is at risk. Even if Taylor has conservative friends, I don't care about that. Thats her life and moral code. What matters is that Trump doesn't win. We need to do everything possible to prevent him from winning. The lesser evil is Kamala. Another trump presidency = Dictatorship for the USA and awful things-domino effect for the whole planet.


 

But yeah, Taylor was pretty foolish to let herself be seen like that with those maga supporters. Now she can't use the excuse that she's worried about what might happen to her fans in the concerts and act like she's away from all the political stuff. People will tear her apart.

This is so weird to lump all POC together lol. I'm POC and I don't really care that Taylor hugged this woman and went to dinner with her on a double date. Are they ah going out one on one? Is she saying how much she loves Brittany and her politics?

 

I'll wait for Taylor to finish her next leg of the tour and to make her pro-Kamala endorsement in October, around the same time she endorsed Joe and Kamala last time. Hopefully all the people calling her MAGA in this thread will walk back their statements

This whole “scandal” is reminding me of the time y’all tried to cancel Sydney Sweeney for taking a picture with her family who happens to support Trump. 

 

It is entirely okay if you cannot be friends with Trump supporters. I personally cannot. I still have to associate with people in my life that support Trump or other abhorrent views I cannot stand because of work, mutual friends, etc. They’re not welcome in my inner circle, but I can put on a smile and be cordial because I’m an adult. If you have more firm personal boundaries that work for you, then that’s great. But, taking the extra step of imposing those boundaries onto another person and require that they apply those same boundaries in their own life is peak parasocial behavior.

 

I felt the same way when losers like Bill Maher criticized Taylor for not sitting with Mahomes because (baselessly) assumed Taylor did that because of politics. That assumption on Maher’s part was just as baseless and just as strange as assuming Taylor’s own personal politics because she’s coexisting with someone who happens to support Trump.
