S.K. Dale's taut direction and high-concept thrills were the perfect match for the star's grounded, pissed-off presence. Subservience is another go at the genre successes of his first collaboration with Fox. This time, the shackles are broken, and Fox is given the opportunity to lean into Skynet-lite killer synthetic trappings. x Quote Lately, AI (Artificial Intelligence) has become the go-to topic for horror filmmakers as the popular thing for as far as their antagonists. Such as M3GAN, AfrAId or Imaginary. That's the case here with Scott Dale's film Subservience. He casts Megan Fox in the role of AI antagonist and she does a great job as this character similar to her turn in Jennifer's Body. She is fantastic in horror roles. x Quote The casting department knew what they were doing when they cast the leads for 'Subservience'. Megan Fox, an actress who often isn't given enough credit, is perfect as femme fatale bot Alice, delivering her dialogue in an icy cold way. She's believable as a temptress and it looks like she had fun playing the part. Michele Morrone, the Italian actor from the '365 Days' series, will keep the female (and gay male) viewers happy, showing off his ripped torso and rugged good looks at every opportunity. x Quote Megan Fox delivers an unexpectedly compelling performance as Alice, a seductive and dangerously devoted AI. Her portrayal is over-the-top in all the right ways, bringing a mix of allure and menace that makes her character both fascinating and terrifying. The film thrives on her intense performance, making the more absurd moments both bizarre and captivating. Fox's portrayal of a strong, lethal AI is as hilarious as it is unnerving, particularly in scenes where she goes to extreme lengths to eliminate perceived threats. x Quote Fox is undeniably impressive, delivering a convincing performance as the obedient SIM while allowing elements of faulty programming to shine through. She is at her most entertaining when Alice's deadly potential is fully unleashed, impressing as a horror villain with a mix of camp and genuine menace. Morrone continues to showcase his talent as a leading man, capturing Nick's internal struggles. He portrays Nick as a man crushed by the pressure of being a single father, dealing with a high-pressure job, and grappling with complex desires, delivering a compelling and well-crafted performance. x Quote Subservience is very much for fans of Megan Fox with several set pieces seeing her lay waste to stereotypical misogynist men and there's a pleasing if downbeat ending not usually associated with such fare. x Quote Fox has perhaps the hardest task in the movie, playing a character who can't really show emotion for most of the film. She plays machine well, with the kindness and care she displays to the family having this sense of fakeness to it that sells the fact that she's not human. As Alice becomes more and more of a 'person' you can see cracks starting to form, and you end up watching her performance very closely, waiting to see the mask slip for just a second to reveal the obsessed, murderous robot beneath. It's a world you want to spend more time in, you want to know how far this goes, and the final scene of the movie will likely have you wanting more; even if just so it can answer the question of if the robot uprising began because a man put his dick in something he shouldn't have. x The movie is now in theaters in several international markets (her global reach!) and is out digitally on Friday, Sept 13
