The left refused this condition This is false: when Macron's party started saying this, Mélenchon surprised them only a few days later saying he agreed. Renaissance then IMMEDIATELY shifted the narrative to "we don't want any LFI-inspired measures", which makes no sense since the NFP program is a coalition program and every measure is supported by each of its members. It only shows that these "conditions" are blatant excuses, and that they are the ones not willing to do any compromise. 16 hours ago, ctlp27 said: Considering what we know Cazeneuve communicated to Macron (which was closely aligned with what the NFP wanted to achieve) This is pure speculation and not what the Left said. If you only want to believe Macron's discourse, that's your choice. 17 hours ago, ctlp27 said: Choosing Castet was already an initial sign that they had no intention of governing. She had no experience within parliament and was not even a candidate in the legislative election. This is both a wrong opinion and a misconception of the French system. You do not need to have any parliament experience to be Prime Minister. Those are two seperate powers (executive v. parliament). I'd also point out that Macron himself got first elected in 2017 on the promise of a "new world" (also concerning politics) and that some of his previous Prime Ministers were "nobodies" too (the obvious example being the one with an almost identical name: Castex). 17 hours ago, ctlp27 said: Castet mentioned that she might consider working on compromises weeks after being "chosen" to be Prime Minister by NFP Ultimately, on the timeline: there have been several weeks in between these two events only because Macron himself decided to pause the process for a whole month with the Olympics as an excuse (while he decided to rush elections with only 3 weeks of preparation RIGHT BEFORE those same Olympics). 3
