ultraviolence.xx Posted September 2 Posted September 2 anyone heard it (i.e., @BlackoutZone) and know the style/anything about it?
Skestina Posted September 2 Posted September 2 Is it the same genre as their two last albums? Been craving a new synthpop bop from them 1
ChooseyLover Posted September 2 Posted September 2 Wait now?! Aly just gave birth and they're going to keep the music going right away?! They really are about it when it comes to their group. 1
Archie Posted September 2 Posted September 2 it's not gonna be synthpop. they're pretty committed to the sound they've been going for... i hope they experiment a bit more. a touch of the beat felt more like a marriage between their folky stuff and some electronic influences, but everything after that has been pretty same-y for me. 2

Boniqua Posted September 2 Posted September 2 (edited) Sirens will not be indicative of the sound of their new album given that it is a ballad covering a heavy subject matter. They've been performing three other songs from the new album. It's going to be indie rock. They are all more upbeat than anything on With Love From and A&A sound more alive on them, too. Wait for the second single before calling the era another dud. Edited September 2 by Boniqua 1
paddii_ Posted September 2 Posted September 2 I really wanted to like WLF, I also loved their album before that, but I did not get into a single song of WLF. Please come through this time
computer.boy Posted September 2 Author Posted September 2 Oh, the gays might be mad since the lead single won't be an upbeat track. On the bright side, the fact that their upcoming record has an indie rock sound? I'm here for it!
Boniqua Posted September 2 Posted September 2 Yeah, they built up so much goodwill from Take Me through ATOTB Deluxe just to let it all go to waste by pivoting to a sound that ran counter to everything those people loved about them and regularly listen to. They will be facing an uphill battle this era having to overcome the damage WLF did...so starting things off with a song like this is a choice. What It Feels Like feels like Pretty Places 2.0 tho so hopefully songs like that have a spotlight shone on them later and will be enough to reel people back in. 4 1
Sky Engineer Posted September 3 Posted September 3 Slow dancing wasn't upbeat but it was still amazing. 2
Rigalo Posted September 3 Posted September 3 I liked their most recent album but A Touch of The Beat is iconic…. Let me go stream

I'm very excited for Sirens and the new era in general, but it's such an interesting choice to launch this album with this song. It sounds amazing live but I almost would have rather them release it as a standalone charity single or pre-release after a different lead. In any case, very happy for new material and the songs they've performed live have all amped up my hype
fountain Posted September 10 Posted September 10 Oh wow, sounds amazing and the message behind it is powerful
drip drop Posted September 11 Posted September 11 writing a song about dying in mass shooting while siding with israel. americans are the funniest 1

Boniqua Posted September 11 Posted September 11 They have, albeit sparingly. I'm not in the business of screenshotting every little thing but I do have a screenshot from May of Aly reposting something in support of the college campus protests against Israel and there have been other things since. Spoilering just to be cautious. Spoiler 1
Boniqua Posted September 11 Posted September 11 To your credit, though, I do remember an early repost that took a misinformed neutral stance that made me worry, but things have since been clearer.
