CottageHore Posted August 29 Posted August 29 I looooove Chappell but that statement is giving delusional stan behavior 1
Trent W Posted August 29 Posted August 29 Just now, Strawberry Bubble said: This is a significant challenge . It's not like we get a Chappell Roan every year or anything. Im talking about the queer factor No one closes the door at an artist for being queer anymore Queer artists are more appealing and easier to market It's a benefit now, not a struggle in the music world 3
State of Grace. Posted August 29 Posted August 29 Pretty sure Chappell herself wouldn't agree with this. Of course it's Tranter's annoying ass saying it. 2

bielneira Posted August 29 Posted August 29 They've just erased several other openly queer superstars who came into the scene before Chappell Roan 1
KatyPrismSpirit Posted August 29 Posted August 29 People need to stop their obsession with setting her up for the sake of getting dragged. It reeks of misogyny. That journalists isn't helping her by making these types of statements and he knows that. And yes I'm saying he because only a man would write something that dumb. 1
PrettyHurts Posted August 29 Posted August 29 Giving when Sam Smith thought he was the first gay person to win an Oscar 2

DorothyVallens Posted August 29 Posted August 29 I mean i get it she's queer and gay and everything, but i think it would be more surprising if it was a butch lesbian breaking through massive stardom. I'm not invalidating her queerness but she hasn't been as boundaries-pushing and controversial as Madonna or Gaga when it comes to breaking sexuality or gender norms. Her fans talk about her gayness in the same wattpad-fanfiction-rainbow fantasy'd way as Taylor or Harry Styles fans do. Kissing the biggest female popstar of the moment on the most televised award show ceremony or discussing wether you are a trans woman or not on national television are way more radical than saying "I'm so gay!!!" and throwing glitter on stage. 1 1
Kimi Posted August 29 Posted August 29 and he's kinda right? she's out since day one, and a lesbian at that. Can't think of anyone like her that was as big.
uusagii Posted August 29 Posted August 29 Lou Reed sweetie I'm so sorry they're gassing up this fad to such extreme lengths

She's not even the first lesbian to be this big, there was Melissa Etheridge who achieved her biggest success after coming out and k.d lang & The Indigo Girls on a smaller level. 1

UnusualBoy Posted August 29 Posted August 29 Doesn't he mean artists that were out before taking off? Some of these people mentioned here came out when they already had a career...
