Do you feel blessed with the country you are born in?

well? if it was in your hands would you have rather been born/grown up in another country or are you satisfied with where you're from?

Nope. I'm 24 and lived my whole in a homophobic and conservative country, Turkiye. I feel like every beautiful thing about youth and civilization is taken away from me.

My biggest issue is about the government rather than the country itself. It's been 22 years since today's government was elected and we couldn't get rid of them since that year.

But luckily I'm getting out of here in the middle of this September, going to UK to study Counselling. :gaycat:

I mean, it's alright. Croatia is super small, we are kinda sorta irrelevant so nobody would care to attack us. In terms of gay rights, it's mix of liberal and conservative. In capital city and in the region of Istria, it's pretty safe to be gay, but in rural places and in Dalmatia it's better to be closeted. Our government is moderate so it's whatever. In terms of economy, I wish we had better offers for work but I am hoping to stay here and work here. Nature and beaches are beautiful so I love that. Overall, could be worse!

Portugal: weather's great, pretty safe, a bit socially conservative but things are starting to get better.

Economy sucks tho. Since I was born, we've had recessions, decline of industry, debt crisis, austerity and now a housing crisis. :deadbanana4:

Still, I can't really see myself being born anywhere else. I guess in some other lifetime, I would've been French (my grandfather migrated there in the late-60s and my mom was born there, but they eventually returned).

Yes. Brazil is a pure mess, with a LOT of problems, especially social ones, but in the end of the day, it's the place where you can find the best people in the world.

I wasn't born in America but I'm glad I grew up here despite not liking it that much. English is a useful language to know and there doesn't seem to be anywhere else that's better for a left leaning and non-religious black person to live.

yes, anyone born in the western world is very fortunate

Yes I feel very lucky to be born in Canada

It's not a perfect country and since 6-7 years it has lost its global imagery due to weak political figures but I can't complain

I'm from the French part of Canada so I'm lucky to speak both French and English

I'm mixed. On one hand I like where economically the country is going, but on the other hand I don't know if it can sustain through out my life.

Yes, very much so. It's not perfect, but I have a hard time imagining any country being.

The issues my family had as a child would've impacted me way more if I was born in a lot of other countries, but because of free medical care, free education and general social solidarity, I'm doing great despite it all. Unfortunately, we're going backwards on those things currently.

I also feel privileged that I've never had to worry about war, I'm rarely concerned for my safety as a woman and more.

The worst things are that we're kind of boring and reserved, and very same-y as people, but it is what it is.

No, I wish I could move to a more progressive and lgbt friendly country. Aside from being quite poor, my country is also very conservative and people are generally homophobic. It makes me feel miserable when I leave my little internet bubble and remember the environment I actually live in.

I was born and raised in NYC and I think that makes me pretty lucky :suburban:

Chile's decent, people are generally socially conservative, especially on rural areas, but they aren't the violent type nor are they likely to deny a service to you. Also, despite rising living costs & the overall increase in crime rates, you can live quite comfortably if you're careful so yeah, I can't really complain, it could be WAY worse

Pretty much mixed. It's love and hate  :coffee2:

Düsseldorf, Germany. Well, in terms of opportunities I'm fine, but I also think we are still more conservative, racist and close minded than other western countries. It's 50/50. I'd like it to more open minded and progressive.

I used to think so but not anymore, life quality is getting dramatically worse in every aspect and quickly.

I wish I would've been born in Ireland instead :eli:

I'm from the US so yes.

I'm from the US (California) so I've always felt privileged to grow up in a place and time with LGBT+ acceptance, left-leaning, great weather, and that's given me a lot of good opportunities
