okgo Posted August 25 Posted August 25 "California, here we come." 21 years later, The O.C.'s theme song still turns up the nostalgia and the urge of some sort of follow-up. According to Ben McKenzie, fans aren't the only ones hoping that the beloved teen show winds up getting a continuation. In a panel held at FanExpo Canada, hosted by Collider's Maggie Lovitt, the actor known for his portrayal of Ryan Atwood shared that he still holds onto the possibility of reprising his iconic role. Although there is nothing set in stone for an official return, McKenzie did say that he has chatted with showrunner Josh Schwartz about what a series comeback could look like. "It'd be interesting to revisit those [original] characters too. I mean, I talked to Josh about that, and I've dabbled with that a little bit. Nothing is happening right now that I know of, but it would be kind of interesting." "Seth Cohen, Marissa Cooper, Ryan Atwood, I don't want to detour the importance, but they became so close to us that you can't make a The O.C. part 2. It would have to be new actors playing some sort of role, so that is kind of the thing we need to figure out." "The idea is to pass it on to a younger generation, so that it can be relevant, but still keep the multigenerational figure thing that The O.C. did pretty well with such great actors like Peter Gallagher, Kelly Rowan, Melinda Clarke, and Tate Donovan." Although there isn't any official news about whether The O.C. will return to the screen in the near future, it is comforting to know that the lead actor still ponders the idea of getting back on set with his former co-stars. Seasons 1-4 of The O.C. are available to stream on Max. as long as they're aware that no Marissa, no The OC
J Legend X Posted August 25 Posted August 25 why? because he has nothing going on with his career? keep it...no Marissa, no The OC
Bubble Tea Posted August 25 Posted August 25 I literally love Marissa and Mischa Barton but her character had well worn out her welcome in season 3, Mischa Barton hated being on the show by that point and most importantly - she died, and then season 4 went on to be amazing and the show really picked up its stride after a lackluster season 3. I think some of y'all are fake fans and it's showing here I think maybe an O.C. reboot with a new cast would be the most effective tbh. That world and its stories are fun though, but idk, teen stories in a social media world are so tedious.

Marissa died, and S4 did that future thing looking at Kirsten and Sandy moving back to (I forgot where) and Summer and Seth getting married etc like... IDK, there's no un-horrendous way to move the show forward. Still if they really wanted to do some parallel universe pick-up from some random Season 3 point, I'd be down lmao but hmm...
YourFavoriteWeapon Posted August 26 Posted August 26 I love The O.C but I'm not sure a reboot is necessary. I would be here to see Mischa get more work though.
Trent W Posted August 26 Posted August 26 Is absolutely not necessary but I wouldn't complain If they come back as parents and the story is shared with their kids this could actually work and be a success If they get a whole new cast with a try hard gen z script they can keep it tho Gossip Girl was ruined, it was basically a political cardboard.
