Dangerous Woman went top 10 in a few countries and top 5 on pop airplay; Into You was a top 10/top 20 hit in many countries and on US pop radio.
Pluto6 Posted August 22 Posted August 22 (edited) JLO was flopping hard between 2006-2010 and only had 1 spanish hit (Que Hiciste) and 1 feature hit (Control Myself) in between, otherwise she was completely N/A during that period, both in music and films. If she hadn't released "On the Floor," she probably would've been more forgotten. I was too young to witness JLo's prime years, but "On the Floor" was what reintroduced me to her. The song didn't just revive her music career, it revived her entire brand, solidifying her status as the icon that she is. It allowed her to pick up where she left off in 2005, making her far more present in pop culture throughout the 2010s and 2020s than she was in the second half of the 2000's. That's why she's still more famous and talked about than most of your faves today. And she did indeed have follow up hits post On the Floor globally during the 10's: Spoiler Her movie career was also revived Spoiler She also had successful world tours such as Dance Again World Tour (2012) and It's My Party tour (2019), and had a very successful Vegas residency. + She had millions of other gigs such as Super Bowl etc. Like how can you not stan this Latina legend Edited August 22 by Pluto6
Erreur2 La Nature Posted August 22 Posted August 22 Depends how you define "reviving". Many artists got a big hit after years of flopping but despite that song performing abnormally well, it was not enough to make those artists relevant again with the next music projects. Miley Cyrus has the biggest song of the decade so far with Flowers but all of the singles released after Flowers flopped and the album itself didn't do particularly good. I think Lady Gaga has experienced some kind of revival lately with Shallow. Eventhough her solo songs don't do good, there's still enough interest in her to make the collaborations work and the movie + soundtrack forced a shift in her music direction.
Imagine Dragon Posted August 22 Posted August 22 (edited) Maybe not reviving since they were still new, but I feel like: Dua Lipa - New Rules Ava Max - Kings & Queens were kinda career savers. Edited August 22 by Imagine Dragon
