aadrl1 Posted August 22 Posted August 22 (edited) The political threads on this forum are getting out of hand. Open up the forum today, and almost half of the front page new posts are similar political messages, posted by the same 1 or 2 users. Obviously, certain users are attempting to flood this forum with political threads of selective agendas that are crafted towards their own narratives, with no respect towards the existing political mega-threads. And the forum moderators are not doing anything. Don't think I have ever witnessed ATRL as the political battleground as it is today, as some users are intentionally bringing political fights into every other thread. Not sure if this is still a music forum? Because many people don't want to get shoved in the face with a few selective people's political opinions all the time. There gotta be a limit, right? As there are policies for new music threads, viral threads, and non-political mega-threads. So what do you think? Do you think ATRL should enforce Political Mega Thread better? State of Grace. Posted August 22 Posted August 22 There's an entire section for political threads. Don't visit it if you are bothered by the threads (and I'm pretty sure you're referring to the ones re: Palestine). Mods always merge threads with certain megathreads when necessary. You don't even post on the forum. It's giving major dupe vibes. 8 3
Virgos Groove Posted August 22 Posted August 22 They already do? It's not uncommon for less-relevant threads to get merged with their respective megathreads, especially the Palestine-related ones. If you don't like the Civics section, ignore it. If you want to deal with actually useless threads, let's talk about the endless barrage of Britney vs. Xtina threads (in 2024! ). 9
welham Posted August 22 Posted August 22 If you can handle dumbass threads by chronically online users who scan the charts 24/7 for the ultimate noble goal of petty stan wars, I'm sure you'll be able to live with some political threads here and there that are nowhere near as common as you try to claim. There is a genocide of a group of people happening as we speak, and many members either belong and care about it. There are other genocides and conflicts happening around the world, and people care about it. Some people actually give a **** about important developments in the world. Please stick to getting high off laced drugs and poppers in circuit parties and stop trying to police and silence other people's interests. 10
Apolonio ₃₄ Posted August 22 Posted August 22 Who cares. It's not even that serious. The Civics section much like The Games section is a separate entity. Leave it as it is.
Europe Posted August 22 Posted August 22 Some members use this site as their own propaganda machine, that is easy to see. But the mods seem to be fine with it so it is what it is. 2 1 1 1

Do you know how stupid and evil you sound?
Alldeezy Posted August 22 Posted August 22 I didn't even know it existed tbh But I'm glad because I hate the lounge being filled with it.
heckinglovato Posted August 22 Posted August 22 Do you want less threads about Palestine and more about Alissa Violet and Katy Perry having a bad week? Just say it
Gelato Posted August 22 Posted August 22 i am not really bothered but if people care so much then maybe there can be a change where civics threads don't show up on the home page? idk who cares
Reginald Posted August 22 Posted August 22 YES, or at least give the option to hide the entire Civics section altogether. This is a pop culture forum. I will never forget the 5+ threads per day announcing every celebrity who said Biden is too old, that was just obnoxious. 2

Gov Hooka Posted August 22 Posted August 22 I want 50 threads about Katy Perry's supreme floppage instead
Cesar Posted August 22 Posted August 22 No because every political issue deserves its own thread. This is a pop culture forum, Politics is Pop Culture whether you like it or not.

As there are policies for new music threads, viral threads, and non-political mega-threads. Quote Absolute TRL was founded in 1999 by Joseph Snyder as a fan site of MTV's TV Show Total Request Live. Originally, the site focused on maintaining a complete and comprehensive archive of recaps, records and other statistics. In 2005, the main site was closed in favor of the forum, which has become a mainstay of pop culture discussion to this day. We briefly rebranded to PopFusion in 2006, and retained that name for a year. In 2007 we rechristened ourselves ATRL. ATRL was — and is — a safe space for fans to discuss their chosen artists, celebrity culture and more. Described by Buzzfeed as "a space for fans to argue in favor of their chosen artist with statistics and ideas about cultural impact," ATRL is more than just the artists the community stans for. We are a predominantly LGBTQ+ forum and strive to have a community that is diverse in makeup as well as thought, and a safe space for members to explore real life happenings in the world in our popular Political space. https://atrl.net/about/ It's never just been a music forum. It has ALWAYS been a forum that has different various topics that has to deal with pop culture.
Starfish Posted August 22 Posted August 22 I find it comforting. If you express an opposing viewpoint you are warned so it's the perfect echo chamber. 1
