fememeist Posted August 22 Posted August 22 I'm stuck between S. Korea and Japan, but i might give it to SK bc it has less stations lol
Archetype Posted August 22 Posted August 22 Wouldn't it technically be China? They have several times more public transit infrastructure built than both Japan and SK combined. As for western nations, it would probably be France, Switzerland, and Germany.
Feanor Posted August 22 Posted August 22 South Korea from the countries I've been to. It's sooo efficient, extensive, and simple to use, I miss it every day.
pavi Posted August 22 Posted August 22 In Luxembourg, public transport is FREE. FREE!!!!! Just took a train there once, tho, so can't talk about reliability, reach, etc.
blown away Posted August 22 Posted August 22 I haven't been in many places. Of the ones I've been Paris has a really good one. One thing I can say for sure, it's NOT Belgium. Our public transportation is the pits.

Princess Aurora Posted August 22 Posted August 22 I'd say most of Northern European countries and Japan.
Rihinvention Posted August 22 Posted August 22 From what I've heard, Japan, because culturally, being late is seen as a huge mark of disrespect, and being entrusted with everyone arriving on time is seen as a huge responsibility, rather than "oh, he's just a train driver." Plus they're super big on cleaning up after themselves.
Virgos Groove Posted August 22 Posted August 22 China, Taiwan and Japan's are God-tier. From the (few) countries I've visited, I really enjoyed the London Underground.
Don Posted August 22 Posted August 22 Netherlands has pretty good public transport but way to expensive

GERMANY???? what the hell? trains usually late, literally there's always some technical problem so there are way too many temporary closed lines, and it's also very expensive. literally when i travel home to Hungary which is 12 hours I pay 52 euros but if i travel inside Germany it's crazy, like a 2 hour train ride is 50 euros… 1

They have the best roads I've ever driven on, not a crack even in the most remote country roads and on top of that the scenery is stunning.
Zack Posted August 22 Posted August 22 (edited) London, UK has the most historic, iconic and aesthetically pleasing one Edited August 22 by Zack
A.R.L Posted August 22 Posted August 22 Certainly not America!! Here in Spain, I don't complain that we have all kinds of public transport (metro, buses, trains, trams, taxis...), as well as other private transport companies. And also the second longest high-speed train lines in the world. Public transport is very cheap if you pay monthly/annually, and then it's free for the elderly/disabled.
Bethenny Frankel Posted August 22 Posted August 22 Best in America is NYC, I liked the public transport in Paris when I was there too
byzantium Posted August 22 Posted August 22 I've never been to Japan but I feel like that is up there. I would give an honorable mention to the Netherlands. I know their public transit within cities could be better but their transit between cities and towns might be the best in Europe. Taiwan is similar in that regard. France is notable in Europe in my mind because even the smaller cities have a respectable transit network. I hear Spain might be better or similar to France as well.

However for Aesthetically pleasing, none of those systems compare to the ones in Eastern Asia. Edited August 22 by byzantium
Robert Posted August 22 Posted August 22 People saying London Hong Kong has the best public transport in the world. It's so easy to get around here but being an extremely densely populated and relatively small city, it has a huge advantage. In terms of countries, I would say China followed by Japan.
Khal Posted August 22 Posted August 22 (edited) The thread says "country". London might be good on its own, but intercity public transport within England is the absolute pits Edited August 22 by Khal
