Seeing it a second time this Wednesday with friends (saw it alone the first time) and I'm so excited to see their reactions

Just came back from seeing this. Absolutely amazing movie. Had no expectations as I didn't watch any trailer besides a short one that was shown to

me on TikTok.

was not expecting to like it this much

Loved this! I watched this with two friends who had to look away quite a bit during the last 30-40 minutes while I had my eyes glued to the screen.

Really hope Demi snatches up some awards for this! She deserves!

12 more days till it's out in my country :jonny5:

Just watched this, Demi and Margaret were both fantastic. :clap3:

The last 20-30 minutes were messy though, a couple people in my cinema left :toofunny3:

Almost ruined the movie but overall it was great.

Saw this last night and while there was a lot to appreciate I found it severely underwritten. When they finally came face to face it felt anti-climactic for them to just fight it out. The concept was left to do the majority of the work but for me it wasn't quite strong enough to carry the film. Definitely some moments where I had to cover my eyes haha do not recommend if you have a weak stomach.

Loved the element of shots from above - her star, them in the shower etc. Demi was strong but I don't see her as a big awards contender without the emotional aspect of the film. Her French cooking scene was hysterical though, that makeup was insane and her sarcastic mocking comments were cracking us up. Overall glad I saw it but not sure I ever need to see it again.

It lowkey rewrote my brain. I was holding back tears of laughter at one point, it was incredible. Best movie I've seen in years :jonny3:

I enjoyed this for the most part but it could have been so much better with a tighter script that didn't give in to its worst instincts. The premise really falls apart once you get over the shock of the third act. Kudos to Demi for really carrying her weight, though.

Watched it yesterday, I went in with very high expectations and I did like it a lot, but less than I thought I'd like it.

A bunch of plot holes that didn't make sense to me

Spoiler

What's even the point if Elisabeth has no memory of her life as Sue? They're both so irresponsible, the way Sue keeps missing the dose is so unbelievable, why would you play with something like that when you don't know what might happen?

Elisabeth doesn't think of at least asking if she can stop it after her finger starts to rot?

The most unbelievable thing is how Sue built that perfect door in the bathroom lol Like yeah, right.

I get the movie is meant to be surrealist, but some of the reasonings just didn't land for me or they were not explained properly.

It is beautifully shot, absolutely loved the cinematography and it definitely keeps entertained.

Demi Moore gave a powerful performance, her acting was phenomenal

This was so intense to watch at cinema :jonny:

Demi was great, the scene where she was getting ready for her date was incredible, the highlight of the movie.

I thought it was a bit overlong and there were some unnecessary moments that could have been cut. Also would be interesting to get to know Demi's character even more cause she was so fascinating, and with a running time of 2h20m that should have been possible. Oscar nom may be a long shot but it would be deserved

Just finished watching, the first 2/3rds were brilliant, the ending turned it into a silly mess though :rip:

It's one of my most anticipated films of the year, but ever since reviews came out mentioning how disgusting it is, I'm kinda discouraged because I'm fairly squeamish :jonny2: My local cinema is showing it from this week, should I book a ticket?

This movie was really fun! Final act wasn't the best, but this felt like a Brian Yuzna horror movie from the 80's/90's! Very gory, and shocking

Incredible movie that I don't ever need to see again in the best way. Demi Moore was such a brilliant casting and i've been in a BRAT Pack hole for the past month watching the classics of that era so this was nice timing for me to see her gain critical recognition again. Horror never really does well in Awards if i'm not mistaken so i can't see her getting nominated, but i can perhaps see her getting some honorary awards instead. The bathroom scene was incredibly emotional tbh

I think she already got one for this anyway. Some thoughts hidden below though as to not spoil:

    • Not sure if i missed it but does Elisabeth not have like any family? Would they not be checking on her in the 7 days she had to be Sue? Like we didn't really get any info on that, someone as big as they made her out to be can't just dissapear for 7 days. Also, when she did turn back into Elisabeth, would the guy who Sue spoke to and said Elisabeth moved out not be like wtf is going on?
    • Sue becoming an expert in home DIY was hilarious
    • The low-key traumastising scene for me was when Monstro Elisasue takes the stage, but not for what happens. The way she was screaming "i'm still me" and then everyone attacking her and calling her an alien just struck a chord for me, felt really sorry for the monster LOL :(

It was great up until the last act.

Then it turned into Malignant :rip:

What's even the point if Elisabeth has no memory of her life as Sue?

Spoiler

My theory was that after activation, there is no new "Sue" consciousness, but a copy of Elisabeth's consciousness who makes the jump to the Sue body, and a consciousness that stays in the original body (Which explains why she's so shocked she can't sleep the whole first night as Sue). So Elisabeth did get to live as Sue, but that still leaves an Elisabeth that injects the Substance and wakes up in the original body one week later. The new bodies retaining the memories/goals of the previous one leads me to believe that's it's sort of a Teletransportation paradox thing going on (Sue instantly understands she was fired from her show, Elisasue knows she needs to get ready for the New Years Show)
