The imagery... the style choices... I thought the idea was to make a global girl group... not to take girls from all over the world, and simply k-popify them. They all are so different, yet their music and visuals are so non-representative of that. I definitely had the same feeling but considering that they were formed on a show that was a collaboration between an American record label and a Kpop company, I'm not surprised that they were molded after the same formula used for Kpop groups. It's such a shame because then the girls are looked at as a knock off Kpop gg instead of a group consisting of 6 talented and beautiful girls who come from different backgrounds joining together to make their dreams come true.

50thStateofMind Posted September 13 Author Posted September 13 That Debut performance is how loud their mics should be all the time. It actually makes groups sound worse when they try to blend real voices with such loud tracks.

Im really curious how much longevity they'll have though. Great that they debuted on Korean countdown shows this week. But traditionally aren't K-Pop audiences pretty…selective (shall we say), especially when it comes to non-Koreans in their market? They're almost positioning Manon as the focal point of the group (at least in their choreo)…which I think it's interesting. And their music is too K-Pop-esque to appeal to Western Pop radio/audiences, imo. So I wonder how they're measuring their success?? 1 1
professor2000 Posted September 14 Posted September 14 Sophia has been standing out to me lately. Didn't really pay much attention to her earlier, but she kinda eating these performances. 1

I'm wondering if they're actually gonna try to give them a solid push in the US or just keep them mainly in Korea where they already have appeal. the US could really use a good girl group, it's been wayyy too long. I know 'global group' was the original idea but so far they're only marketing them in kpop adjacent spaces Edited September 18 by Scandalous

Daniela having the lowest is criminal. She is one of my fav. That dance practice video when they were all wearing white.. she devoured! Edited September 18 by ToraeGilt

Most of their stuff is very K-Pop esque. I bet it's hard getting the right song to resonate with both Eastern and Western audiences. But if they get it right…it'll be a huge win.

paddii_ Posted September 23 Posted September 23 (edited) I hope Hybe doesn't fumble the bag with them. Touch is having a cute moment. They should keep promoting it and preparing a new mini for Jan/Feb Edited September 23 by paddii_
