mokitsu Posted August 12 Posted August 12 In season three, as Pierpoint looks to the future and takes a big bet on ethical investing, Yasmin (Marisa Abela), Robert (Harry Lawtey), and Eric (Ken Leung) find themselves front and center in the splashy IPO of Lumi, a green tech energy company led by Sir Henry Muck (Kit Harington), in a story that runs all the way to the very top of finance, media, and government. Since leaving Pierpoint, Harper (Myha'la) is eager to get back into the addictive thrill of finance and finds an unlikely partner in FutureDawn portfolio manager Petra Koenig (Sarah Goldberg). 1
mokitsu Posted August 12 Author Posted August 12 Who's watching sisters? Season 3 started with a bang The last 10 minutes were a ride Yasmin going thru it

ALittleGauche Posted August 13 Posted August 13 What's the vibe of this show? And what shows are similar to it?
ctlp27 Posted August 13 Posted August 13 It really is the best show nobody watches. I wish there weren't 2 years between seasons, but I'm grateful for the long recap before the first episode. 3x01 Strong return, deep dive into ESG and I like the cynical angle they have given the overly positive corporate PR campaign about it in recent years. Seems like Harper is more supportive so far, sad/not sad for Kenny. I wonder if Rob will inherit some of that creepy lady.

Jglj Posted August 31 Posted August 31 This season has been so good, the writing is really showing quality. Spoiler All the characters have interesting arcs, but to me it's interesting the change in focus from Harper to Yasmin, I think her story has been really interesting, I'm glad they're focusing on that. Still, all of them are terrible people (similar to Succession). I really hope they can continue the high quality and land the season successfully. 1

It's about young people who join the graduate program at an investment bank in London, it explores their own stories joining the finance industry, wealth, abuse of power, relationships within those groups of people, etc. It does offer a lot of critique of those elements too. It has very good writing and solid performances, you should check it out if you liked things like Succession. 2
Mordecai Posted September 8 Posted September 8 Been watching this show since the beginning but it's difficult to get into at times because the technical jargon can be hard to follow. Or maybe I'm just dense and can't pick up on things as well Also I had no idea Rishi was in his thirties and married with a kid I thought he was only a couple of years older than Harper/Yasmin/Robert
Jglj Posted September 17 Posted September 17 The last episode was so good, the writing and acting were phenomenal. Spoiler Eric, Yasmin and Harper reading each other for filth was good. Harper and Yas conversation at the end was very tense, great lines, I particularly liked "Being a narcissist with an inferiority complex does not make you an underdog". Eric being creepy and disgusting, I'm really glad he has not got the kids. The writers were on something good this season, I hope they can land the ending. 1

The business drama leads to the personal dramas they follow, so a lot of time you just need to understand something is going wrong/good, but yeah, can be a bit difficult. Spoilers for episode 6 Spoiler Understanding that shorting a stock is betting on a company misfortune, that Pierpoint has overextended it's loans and is about to be bankrupt; and if that happens Harper and Petra would make a half-billion are the key parts here. The details is where a lot of the jargon comes in, though.
Spicy_TyTy Posted September 17 Posted September 17 I'm just near the end of the first season. This show is so good, I am hooked. The UK is known for its raunchiness so I'm glad they aren't holding back. Obsessed.
ANTisocial Posted September 19 Posted September 19 omfg that ending of the latest episode was a masterclass of acting 1
Jglj Posted September 19 Posted September 19 It got renewed for a season 4. https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/tv/tv-news/industry-renewed-season-4-hbo-1236006882/
Jglj Posted September 30 Posted September 30 The finale was very good. They stuck the landing. I'm curious where they'll take season 4, if this was the ending to the series it would be very fitting. Spoiler Yasmin just using Rob once again, it was painful to watch, but loved her reading the CEO lady who wanted to put all the scandals on her. I also found it interesting them making a bit more clear that Charles did abuse her, which is so sad and tragic. Eric is a moron, Bill was right, he has no vision and the Mitsubishi plan was the ideal path. At least he got 20 million out of it. I liked he pointed out to the board lady how her ESG drive went away once there was no money in it anymore, now she's happy to be a bigot. Petra is also a moron, Harper is always in for herself, she trusting her is so dumb, she also is very sadistic with the Rishi humiliation (not that he didn't deserve it). Rob being the only one with a happy-ish ending was good, but I'm sure his ventures in California will have more bullshit. I guess them moving to NY and California make sense, maybe they'll explore the financial industry in those places, Wall Street and Venture Capital in Silicon Valley. Overall solid season. 2
getBusy Posted October 2 Posted October 2 DAAAAAAMN I LOVED THAT SEASON FINALEEEE I was so confused because it gives series finale vibes 1

ANTisocial Posted October 3 Posted October 3 that season finale was amazing. Spoiler poor rob tho... was rooting for him and yas. also was yas sa'ed by her father?
Babydoll. Posted October 17 Posted October 17 season 3 really really turned it like woah. really great finale. the soundtrack for this season is an improvement on the last also. season 2 grated on me a bit and was so grey and hopeless to the point of exhaustion for me lol. anyway the performances in this are so good kinda cant believe how """"underrated""" it is
