Komet Posted August 9 Posted August 9 the fact it was descending so slowly... terrifying. It seems there were icing conditions at the altitude they were on.
Riverbank Posted August 9 Posted August 9 Those videos... RIP to everyone. What a horrifying way to go out
Uncatena Posted August 9 Posted August 9 Horrible. Absolutely harrowing to think about how they must've felt and the poor families... just sad. Do we know if it happened because of weather conditions?

Love to all the family members and friends. I think it's because they are so rare that it always feels extremely terrifying, especially when its a passenger plane.
shinyshimmery Posted August 9 Posted August 9 I thought airplanes were supposed to glide through the air That plane fell straight down, like an elevator without brakes. RIP to the passengers, that looks scary af.

duybeeGAshantiGA Posted August 10 Posted August 10 (edited) It's like the engines just decided to stop immediately. And even in most cases that the engines shut down, it would just continue to go in a horizontal direction and slowly descending and then... but this one looks so weird this way, must be due to weather or something. Like it got caught in a tornado? Usually planes dont even fall and crash like this... RIP Edited August 10 by duybeeGAshantiGA 1
duybeeGAshantiGA Posted August 10 Posted August 10 OMG someone took a pic of a wing and sent it on the internet before they died The other angles are even more scarier...
JoeAg Posted August 10 Posted August 10 jesus christ this has always been my biggest fear, but I always try to console/reassure myself before a flight that plane accidents are incredibly rare and that turbulence is almost never the cause for any crash. this is absolutely devastating and I am so terribly sorry for the losses of all the family members of each and every passenger and crew member. RIP to them all
LegaMyth Posted August 10 Posted August 10 How is it that some type of parachute system hasn't been created yet for small planes?

And I read that this plane is a smaller prop plane (not tiny, but smaller) that has a bad history of de-icing.
A.R.L Posted August 12 Posted August 12 This accident could have been easily avoided if it was any other airline and/or, I would also say a country with strict safety regulations, or even a long international flight, not just a domestic one. The problem is that the plane had issues with de-icing, the pilots should have flown lower than that flight attitude, some say that he asked and his request was denied, but I am sure that if an emergency were declared, they would accept his request. I have heard that a 5-year-old girl was on board the flight with her father. I can't imagine the feelings of their family, RIP
