A Million Lights Posted August 8 Posted August 8 (edited) I put the strongest contenders i had in mind in the poll. Feel free to say any other album! Edited August 8 by A Million Lights
Ivan_brit Posted August 8 Posted August 8 After Hours or Future Nostalgia Can't decide the biggest era
alejandreaux Posted August 8 Posted August 8 After Hours came to mind first. Blinding Light was just too massive, legit a contender for biggest hit song ever. not to mention 2 other #1 hits, including the mega-smash Save Your Tears. what's crazy is TTPD will probably numerically end up being the biggest era but it doesn't feel like it has left nearly the cultural footprint that all the other eras have, so I don't know how to quantify it
jomarr Posted August 8 Posted August 8 After Hours but FN is the biggest ERA by a female this decade so far.
Trent W Posted August 8 Posted August 8 (edited) After Hours Blinding Lights is arguably the biggest hit all time and Save Your Tears one of Also the album is a masterpiece It defined the pandemic and 2020s I would put Future Nostalgia in a not so far 2nd place, with similar achievements Edited August 8 by Trent W 1 1
liam13 Posted August 8 Posted August 8 Midnights. The album is mid imo but it's responsible for a mega smash hit, a smash hit, one or two moderate hits, the most successful album of its year and the biggest tour of all time. all that plus constant media presence, headlines, nfl and politics, award shows and movies. she was literally everywhere. not people voting for Future Nostalgia when hit singles are everything it has 1 1

Lol

VioletsandRoses Posted August 8 Posted August 8 Sour globally/SOS US After Hour and Future Nostalgia are playlists atp. They shouldn't count especially FN. 1
Nightingale Posted August 8 Posted August 8 Sour if we go just based on the hits and music. Midnights if we include the cultural phenomenon that Taylor became

Certain fandoms may not know about it, but it's also about the magnitude of the era rather than just numbers. The FN era started in late 2019 and was still performing exceptionally till 2022. The amount of juggernaut HITS Dua bagged with this era? - Don't Start Now - Physical (Even if it did not smash on non-European charts, it is lowkey one of her most known songs) - Break My Heart (a radio hit and I still hear it get played to this day) - Levitating (the biggest female hit of the decade so far) Besides the huge hits this era possessed, it had a massive sold-out tour, was the most acclaimed MPG album of 2020, earned a Grammy, produced countless iconic looks and performances for Dua, had a genuine impact on pop music (which is very hard to get, not everybody has that), revitalized her image and propelled her into a pop force (with two massive eras back-to-back), became the third highest-selling female album of 2020, and is the second-most streamed female album on Spotify of all time. SOUR was definitely as big. Olivia was everywhere with this record. You couldn't escape Driver's License and Good 4 U for a long time, the latter song influencing a short-lived pop-rock revival phase in the music of the early 2020s. I remember people having no expectations of her being an album artist when SOUR was released (I made a thread on a forum about predicting the first week sales of SOUR and people were reckoning nothing more than 150k). Still, she smashed those numbers out of the gate and it went on to become the most streamed female album of all time. Even the non-singles of the album of the album were so good and that's a monumental feat to achieve. Midnights was a huge era as well but I think it was all about releasing it in the right place, right time, while FN and Sour were not released during the kindest circumstances which makes their smashing even more impressive. Both of these eras were so fun to be present for. A great time indeed. An amazing decade I must add for women in pop dominance (Taylor Swift, Dua Lipa, Olivia Rodrigo, Billie Eilish, Charli xcx) Edited August 8 by Blackout2006 1

But it's the hits that got the era going on for three years lol. Taylor Swift has been a big celebrity forever with a massive following that culminated in two decades, whereas Dua is way newer and has not done much to develop herself as a celebrity in a way that Taylor's feuds, relationships, and controversies have made her. It's integral to Taylor's brand, not Dua's. Also like I said earlier, Midnights came out at just the right time with Taylormania brimming, allowing Taylor's popularity to instantaneously explode overnight. Dua had to completely change her image and promote an album during the COVID-19 era.
