Taylor cancels the Eras Tour in Vienna due to terrorist threat

It takes time to book a stadium, let alone make a schedule for only 3 dates when they can only happen during summer.

The Eras tour runs through December so no it doesn't matter if it's summer or not. Also her last tour date in Europe is end of August with the next show not being until November, so she could easily schedule something for September or October.

It's clear her team doesn't want her performing there again anytime soon. Perhaps because there's a risk there could be others plotting something similar.

Not buying it. Most likely a planted story so Taylor can use the "it's dangerous" excuse when not endorsing Kamala. She doesn't want to risk her money anymore.

I'm sigging this :deadbanana4:

The issue is that her stage requires two months to be shipped between continents. So she would have to keep everyone employed for another two months.  even without shows, her crew costs millions per week to just keep employed. She would have to another European leg to make it profitable and it would be in the middle of football season so venues would be limited. Her dancers/crew likely have other gigs booked out already.

Even if she wanted to do that, it would require several days if not weeks to negotiate.  The cancellation not postponement came from the venue because there is basically no feasible way for  postpone without having to scheldule a whole other leg.

I appreciate the informative answer. Thanks!

It's not how it works, especially if late August can't be booked. It takes 90 trucks just to move the stage around and a huge crew etc just to set up, and the stage can't sit in a warehouse for weeks in Europe as there's none for that and it's moving to the US in ships and not planes.

It's a good thing they got wind of this potential attack before than after. Very wise to cancel. Future shows should probably amp up security even more

The concert was immediately cancelled because this came directly from the government; Taylor and her team had zero say in this. This is likely the reason she and her team have not made their own official statement on their social media accounts as well; I imagine they are having to go through the proper channels and have everything okayed before they say anything, as this is now a government matter. The cancellation has nothing to do with Taylor or her future touring plans.

If you look at Taylor's track record, she has only cancelled one show—due to a literal military coup, a matter that was also out of her hands. Everything she and her team have had even some control over has always been postponed and then fulfilled at a (typically nearer) later date. But in regard to today's events, once the government discovered and then thankfully foiled a plan for a terrorist attack, there's no way they'd allow her to continue on with the show anytime soon.

This is also very likely delaying an official statement from her, because she's going to have to work with the Austrian government to figure out what the next steps might be to actually re-schedule these shows, if at all (let alone general touring logistics, let alone the reservation of the venue etc etc). She's not going to want to simply state that the shows have been cancelled, knowing Taylor she'll very much want to include information rectifying the situation for the fans (or at the very least, she'll want to attempt to negotiate with the government for as long as possible, which again would delay a statement).

All I want is her, her team, everyone involved and all the fans to be safe.

Exactly. I personally can't see how the Austrian government would be okay with the show being held there for the remainder of this year at the very least, at that creates the many logistical issues—securing the venue, transportation of the stage and equipment, finalizing new dates when their literally may not be any available, and just the fact that Eras is set to end in December and it's highly unlikely she's extending it. Of course, this is just me guessing and maybe things can work out, but it's such a mess. Obviously the most important thing is that everyone is safe, but I can't help but feel devastated for the fans that were supposed to be at the shows this weekend. There's a very high chance they will not get to see The Eras Tour, and all because of something so awful as this. :frown:

Concert looks like it was cancelled by the organizer (stadium) not the government.

Also it happened at around 10 pm Vienna. So that would make it difficult for her team to talk everyone necessary to make a new plan. Likely it will be a good several hours before she makes a statement.  Her team will likely be trying to see if there is a possibility of a reschedule since they will want her statement to have fully layout the plan. However, reschelduling is very unlikely.

Her stage takes around two months to ship between continents which means that she would have to reschedule to right after the London dates. However, Coldplay is playing those dates. She there likely isn't enough time for her stage to setup , torn down and then shipped to USA in time for the October 20 dates.

She cannot just circle back to Vienna as she has committed to her crew that the touring is ending so they likely have other gigs lined up. Even if they didn't, she would have to pay them for another 2 months , plus the millions in shipping costs  just to ship everything back to Vienna for 3 dates.    Her Vienna dates would lose everyone tens of millions dollars. She would have to do a whole another European leg that they would have to book last minute.  That's really not happenign considering how exhausted Taylor and her crew are from constantly being on the road seperated from their families.

Taylor's team probably have their own CIA branch at this point. It's needed.

This is uuusually how domestic terrorism plots get uncovered. Generally speaking, western governments aren't allowed to spy on their own people (insert giant asterisk here), but they're always happy to ask their allies to do a bit of the dirty work for them. It goes this way a lot (the CIA or NSA are usually pretty involved in stopping European terror plots if they get caught), but MI6 or the DGSE or CSIS or whoever else share info back to the US about domestic plots here too

Gotta love the fan accounts updating on it like they're Reuters or something though :deadbanana4:

The terrorist claim affiliation with isis but looks likely they didn't have any actual contact with them.

Reading between the lines, they were trying to create a bomb. But has untrained teenagers, it's likely  the bomb wouldn't be very effective.

USA likely was tracking the social media sites where they likely talked about their plans/preperation.

In general,   USA government is heavily monitor the Eras Tour since it's a prime target for terrorist due to the being the event of the last two years.

I  am pretty confident that the threat has been handled but with only one day between the threat being exposed, it likely wasn't enough time to make the promoters feel confident that the police had captured all the perperators.

Feeling for mutual who planned their  oversea trip around these dates.

Horrifying. I had been counting down to this show for over a year. I was just getting ready to board the plane to Vienna in a few hours when I received the message. They made the right call to cancel it but it's still awful for those of us who had to travel. I can't believe this happened in Austria of all places.

I hope Vienna is still safe enough for a city break :weeps:

False. Then you were raised in a terrorist household because I was raised a Muslim. It's very simple, kill one person and it is the equivalence of killing entirety of humanity and you will GUARANTEED end up in hell for eternity. Although I have my own issues with the religion, but that is rule #1. It is the same reason why suicide is forbidden as well. You simply can't end a soul including yourself.

Self defence is another thing though. Jihad is basically a self defence concept too. But it was turned political.

Well that can be debated. ISIS is purely an extremist Sunni ideology. Hence some teachings in Sunni schools are scary af. Plus, ISIS' main target is Shia Muslims. Hence why they tried to occupy Iraq in 2014 ( since Shia's are incharge) and failed.  Extremist Sunnis simply believe Shias "aren't muslim" and killing them will take you to heaven "70 virgins" Not to mention ISIS is funded by the U.S,Europe, Qatar, Saudi, Emirates and recruited by North African and Arabs of Sunni backgrounds predominantly. It's such a great political ideology and division of deception that serves the outer circle.

I literally have Syrian friends whose Sunni who lost their families and friends bc of ISIS what your seeing is an extremely simplified version of what's happening in reality

Sad for anyone attending, but ultimately the right decision.

What does hating her has to do with this? What did saying it add to the conversation?

I swear, the way OTHs ALWAYS need to express how much they hate her no matter the circumstances is beyond pathological at this point, it's weirder than JD Vance himself :rip:
