Suilen Posted August 7 Posted August 7 (edited) The 7th generation had quite a lot of firsts: no Gyms, no Champion, no HMs, no trade evos, Legendary and Mythical evolutions, etc. Many changes were embraced, though you could probably find some genwunners grumbling about them. Pokemon GO brought another zenith for the franchise, with everyone suddenly going outside to catch those pesky mons. Then Let's Go was a remake of a remake, which wasn't a problem, and the next mainline games only made it stand out more. But enough about numbers! Our main focus is the beautiful region of Alola and the Pokemon you can find there. Who's the fairest of them all, who's the most hideous and useless? You decide. And this time we're going to add a small twist to the established formula... Main rules: - Assign all the Pokemon from the list below a score from 1 to 10 - You can use decimals, such as 6.5 or 9.1 - Add a comment next to your score if you want - If a Pokemon has several forms, e.g. Oricorio, you can do the following: 1) Rate all the forms, then add them up and produce the average by yourself, then attach the final result as your score 2) Choose one form you like the best and score it, then specify in your comment which form you are rating - While I'm not going to discard your ballot for trolling, try to make it seem like it was made by a human being rather than a bot that communicates using the binary code. And if you genuinely think that half of them deserve a 1, ask yourself why you're even doing this. - The deadline is August 29. That's it for the rules that everyone should follow. Now let's move to the optional yet exciting part: Let me preface it by stating that this part is OPTIONAL. You don't have to engage in it, but then don't complain that your fave served a Woman's World and your nemesis served a Taylor Swift album. This game is meant to replace the usual 0/11 system, and it can also address other complaints by the members (wrong winners, too many 1s etc). So, what does it mean? Each participant gets 7 Poke Balls: 1 Great Ball, 1 Ultra Ball, 1 Net Ball, 1 Fast Ball, 2 Beast Balls, and 1 Master Ball. Here are their multipliers: Great Ball () = 1.5x Ultra Ball () = 2x Net Ball () = 1.5x for Water and Bug types Fast Ball () = 1.5x for Pokemon with a base Speed ≥ 100 (Lycanroc, Salazzle, Marshadow, Minior, Necrozma, Ribombee, Tapu Koko, Zeraora, Comfey, Alolan Ninetales, Alolan Raichu, Alolan Dugtrio, Alolan Persian) Beast Ball () = 1.75x for Ultra Beasts Master Ball () = 2.55x for all Pokemon How does it work? You attach an appropriate Poke Ball to a Pokemon like this: Lycanroc - 10 (I love omegaverse) x Fast Ball (). Its score becomes 15. Only one Poke Ball per a Pokemon is allowed. If you give a Fast Ball or a Net Ball to a Pokemon that they don't work on, the modifier will be 1x. If you accidentally or deliberately use a 0 or an 11, they will be rounded up to 1 and 10, respectively. These scores don't exist in the rate. Here's a more detailed explanation: Spoiler First of all, let's revise how Poke Balls work in the game. If you use Poke Balls other than Beast Balls and the Master Ball on an Ultra Beast, the modifier becomes 0.1x. Likewise, if you use a Beast Ball on something that's not an Ultra Beast, the modifier becomes 0.1x. This is all true here as well, and bearing this in mind will allow you to tank the Pokemon you don't like (if you're willing to sacrifice your Beast Balls). Basically, you get two equivalents of a 0 if you don't care about Ultra Beasts. Let's have a look at more examples: I want to tank Primarina. What do I do? I give her a score of 1, then I use a Beast Ball on her: Primarina - 1 (you will never be famous) x Beast Ball (). Her score becomes 0.1. I want to uplift an Ultra Beast. What do I do? I use either a Beast Ball or a Master Ball: Nihilego - 10 (the baddest b*tch in the multiverse) x Master Ball (). Its score becomes 25.5. I want to drag an Ultra Beast. What do I do? I choose any Poke Ball not mentioned above and throw it: Buzzwole - 1 (a disgustang bug) x Ultra Ball (). Its score becomes 0.1. This is the idea. Also, you don't have to use the extremes (1 to tank or 10 to uplift, but they make the most sense). I suppose that if you don't want your fave to suffer from success, you can give it a 9 or an 8 and then add a Poke Ball. Or, if you don't want your enemies to flop as hard as Katy did, give them a 5 and then add a Poke Ball, the score will be 0.5. I hope that people won't struggle with the system too much, and the majority will use it to some extent. One more thing: YOU DON'T HAVE TO USE ALL OF THE POKE BALLS. You can just use the Master Ball for your absolute fave and be done with it. Oh, and when you attack a Poke Ball, either use its name or its picture. Preferably the picture for aesthetic reasons. Curaga Posted August 7 Posted August 7 Oooooh, I'm so excited for this Pokéball system! Great idea! 2
poki Posted August 7 Posted August 7 Ooh I remember the day Citrus hosted this back in 2017. It was summer I think because I remember I was at a remote bus stop and as I wait I filled in my scores. The bus arrived and didn't stop for me. Eventually my battery died because it took forever for another bus to pull up. Good times.
Katamari Posted August 7 Posted August 7 What does lycanroc have to do with omegaverse you know what nevermind 3
coolcristobal Posted August 7 Posted August 7 The Pokeball system is intriguing, sounds fun. But I feel like the inclusion of the fast ball give those seven mons the advantage in this rate and I'm not just bringing this up because there are some…truly questionable mons in that bracket. Thots? 1

Thots? Same with water/bug with the net ball but I'm also not totally opposed 1

Thots? I wanted to include a Dusk Ball, but it covered even less Pokemon from this gen in particular. I could maybe replace it with another Ultra Ball, but let's see if people are actually willing to throw Fast Balls their ways, chances are they'll just sit untouched. Either way, I'm willing to course-correct if any anomalies occur. 2

Funnyfatty Posted August 7 Posted August 7 This is my last gen. Idek what came up after this i mean i might know how they look but never played with them

BambiStar Posted August 7 Posted August 7 Aloha! Here we go again Gonna have to read that Pokeball Game explanation again in the morning cause huh 5

Heldenzeit Posted August 7 Posted August 7 Very cute idea! The balls that only work on specific Pokémon are not my favorite though. I imagine the balls having quite the impact, therefore water types and the fast ones do have an advantage already, don't they? 1

The idea is experimental, so it's hard to tell how it will go, but I'll try tracking their impact and see whether they'll cause a significant slant towards the types/fast Pokemon. In the worst-case scenario, I'll issue an announcement and replace them with a Great/an Ultra Ball, and those who already submitted can choose either to keep the ball with the same Pokemon or give it to something else. Probably just more headache for myself, but I'm curious to see what people can do with these tools. 1

Also, good thing we didn't try it during Gen 3 because... 2
Konril Posted August 7 Posted August 7 I'm normally fair with my rankings but I wanna boost my faves with the PokeBalls.
Suilen Posted August 7 Author Posted August 7 If anyone miraculously has the results of the previous rate that died in the purge, please, share them with me as I want to integrate them into the reveals. I imagine that the previous rate probably didn't have the Alolan forms or had separate entries for Oricorio's forms, but I'll see what I can do.

Haze Posted August 7 Posted August 7 Looking at this dex and it is actually really creative. The games are also GF's last high point (except Arceus). 3
