Distantconstellation Posted August 3 Posted August 3 They aren't. The law says 18+ you are a grown adult. I make no distinction between an 18 year old and someone who is 100 both to me are adults. The law says so. If you feel some type of way about it then go change it. They both go to prison if they commit murder. Stop treating anyone 18+ with kid gloves. 1
Johnny Jacobs Posted August 3 Posted August 3 Depends on what age you are when you say that. If you're 60+, it would make sense somehow.
king_queen Posted August 3 Posted August 3 Awwww bc you areeeeee And when you get just a tad bit older…I mean like a year or two…you'll realize exactly what I mean 7 4

Do you remember being 16 and thinking how young, naive, lacking in wisdom, lacking in life experience you were at age 13? Well 20 is kind of the same thing. I remember being mad that adults thought I was dumb for wanting to vote at age 16; I thought it was unfair; but now, they kind of had a point(16 is way too young, for example). Yes, people older than you will see you as a "child"; you have to keep in mind that they don't take you seriously because they look back and have been your age before and were once know-it alls too. They have also grown up with their peers who were once 11, 13, 16, 20, etc... and after the years pass it sort of becomes a universal experience to not take people in their early 20's seriously. Would you take a 13 year old seriously? Edited August 3 by Junipero 10

The_Bling Posted August 3 Posted August 3 Bunch of old people convincing themselves that wisdom comes with age to tell themselves that they matter because no one else will 1
samsclubPRESENTSavam Posted August 3 Posted August 3 I don't know, man. I'm more forgiving of someone's shortcomings as an adult if they're 18 vs. 100 years old. Just ignore the perceived kid thing and let time take care of it. You don't want the pressure of where older adults are expected to be at.

Stop treating anyone 18+ with kid gloves. because (as i am a 24 year old as of last week) people in their 20s are still figuring out their life and who they are as a person in ALL corners of their life/personality. its not until your 30s where you're 100% in who you are, etc
burninredhot Posted August 3 Posted August 3 Idk what you're yapping about but as a 20 yo I can confirm that most of us are dumb.. 2 8
GentleEarthquake Posted August 3 Posted August 3 Bc many ATRLers in their 30s are still bitter the pop girls they stanned a decade ago lost relevance and that's why they like to diminish the new pop girls and their younger fans. 1 3

I'm talking about u making the claim that everyone in their 30s has their whole life figured out and that u 100% know who u are. Like I said entering your 30s doesn't guarantee anything.
Sheep Posted August 3 Posted August 3 Brains aren't finished developing until around 25. 18 is a completely arbitrary and socially constructed milestone 2
Bewitched Posted August 3 Posted August 3 Okay 20 is technically an adult but in some countries you can't even drink until you're 21 so yeah they're not a kid but they're not a full grown adult ppl do stupid things in their 20s and it's not until late 20s/early 30s they get their sh*t together Anybody 30 YO and up shouldn't be called a kid It reminds me of when LochteGate happened and a spokesman for the IOC defended Ryan and the other teammates and just being "kids" meanwhile Ryan was a 32 YO grown man. At 20 you're still in college figuring out who you are so yeah you can still be called a "kid". 2

BrokenMachine Posted August 3 Posted August 3 Currently 25 and I'm in a completely different mindset from when I was 20. Also I wouldn't date someone who is 20, since most people around that age still have that 'different' and I can't relate to it anymore 3
