The Slayer Posted August 2 Posted August 2 (edited) Jesy released a collaboration with her boyfriend Zion Foster today called 'Mine'. It has received a lot of positivity and gone to Number 1 on the iTunes R&B UK chart and is about to go Top 10 on the regular iTunes chart. I know it is 'just' iTunes but this has really touched her. She says it took a long time to be brave enough to release music again after everything and after going independent. She said this song was solely released just through her and her boyfriend, no big label and no promotion. She says how despite no label or radio support this has reminded her why she wanted to release music. She also said in another voicenote she cannot release music she recorded with her former label due to label politics. Sending her a lot of healing and hopefully she continues to release more. The Slayer Posted August 2 Author Posted August 2 She is also looking waaaaay better lately and toned down the past year or so. 3 1 2

FOCK Posted August 2 Posted August 2 (edited) The Jesy hate is really forced & petty tbh. The girl is talented & it honestly seemed to me like people piled on her during the height of her dysmorphia & body image issues, over some… spray tan? Labelling her "difficult" because she was uncomfortable in videos? Idgi. I enjoy Little Mix's music, but wasn't following them closely, so maybe I'm missing something? Anyway, happy that she's got a solid little base. The song is pretty. Edited August 2 by FOCK 12 2 1 18
Dante Silva Posted August 2 Posted August 2 I think she's at a different place in her evolution than she was with "Boyz" and though it's nice to see her happy and I wish her all the best, it's not my style of music. 3
Princess Aurora Posted August 2 Posted August 2 The track sounds like a Thank U, Next Reject btw 2 2 2 1

Yeah, you are missing quite a lot, and in fact there's probably more **** under the rub as stuff keeps leaking now and then like her not showing up to shoots or recording sessions. 5 1
Selegend Posted August 2 Posted August 2 it's not cool to hate on anyone but Jesy's behavior was SO messy and shady on Boyz release so the lack of support from the GP and the little mix audience is not surprising at all lack of support and hate are different tho and the lack of support she's got is her fault. it's because of her own behavior. 11 1
Titanbaddie Posted August 2 Posted August 2 "Jesy cries" seems like a headline we read a lot. The song is a great direction though, i like it.

She tried to use a complexion and culture as a costume and got rightly lashed. She was told, but refused to read the room, doubled down and failed to acknowledge what she was doing wrong. Now that she's dropped after flop, she has wiped off the layers of tan and turned on the waterworks. I'm not buying it. I'm sure many others aren't either. It's tough out there as an independent artist, so I wish her 1/2 an ounce of luck for charting. But unlike her, some people don't have the luxury of playing fancy dress and then ditching it all when it's no longer convenient, it's their reality for their entire life. 24 2

Happylittlepunk Posted August 2 Posted August 2 Glad she removed the tanning but a lot of these issues she complaining about was of her doing. She alienated herself from the group and burn bridges. Not too mention she served very bad attitude towards fans the her ex band mates fairly quickly after she went solo. It no wonder she has very little support. But if she wants things for the better then it's best to just move forward. Hopefully in 10 years she rekindle her friendship again with the girls and do a reunion. 2
Gwendolyn Posted August 2 Posted August 2 (edited) I will always have a soft spot for Jesy, I still find the way her team handled the black fishing and boyz controversy insulting to the many black people who called her out on her actions. I do hope she's remorseful and gets a 2nd chance though when there are way more problematic people in the industry, I hope she apologises to Leigh-Anne and they do eventually reunite before their 15th anniversary. Edited August 2 by Gwendolyn Also the song is very Radio 1xtra friendly so I can imagine it doing well on UK tiktok if it gets promoted well. 2

It's like some of you decide to ignore odd one out. She was literally hospitalised around the time of her departure for being in an extremely dark place again. 1
Slap Posted August 2 Posted August 2 (edited) Boyz was tragic but she should be allowed to grow from it and move on. That said while I don't really care for her music I wish her the best. I don't think anybody should be judged for leaving a girl group they are notoriously not a good deal financially and in terms of career viability and individual branding. She stuck around more than most people do in girl groups too. Edited August 2 by Slap 2

I get the anger but people moan when she's tanned and wanted her to tone down and now she's toned down significantly you're mad about it? She can't win with some of you… 3

She can't win with some of you… Not sure why you're downvoting and trying to dismiss my post, I'm sure you've seen Leigh-Anne's excellent documentary, unless the issues she covered in that flew over your head. I'm not "mad" about anything. Someone said the negativity towards her was "forced and petty". I disagreed and pointed out the very real issues and concerns Jesy's behaviour and promotional tactics created and explained why some people may continue to feel consternation towards her. Especially since she refused to acknowledge or address any of those legitimate concerns in any substantial way, yet was trying to profit from it. You also posted in here praising her new looks with a skin tone multiple shades lighter now and red hair. As I said, some people can't play dress up and throw away the issues that (unfortunately still) come with their darker complexion, like she has. It's their life and reality forever, not a costume or a marketing trick. 7 2
Sad Beautiful Tragic Posted August 2 Posted August 2 (edited) I don't think she's been cancelled for blackfishing - at least not by the British public , because many celebrities in the UK, both men and women, are similarly guilty of excessive tanning and cultural appropriation. I definitely think the narrative gained more traction due to her and Nicki's behaviour towards the only Black member of Little Mix during an Instagram live session. Edited August 2 by Wonbin 3
