Two country singers on the same panel feels excessive

Lionel Ritchie though mostly an R&B singer has done some Country as well.

I worry what this will mean about new music though. I mean, Katy only released one album since she began working on the show so it seems to be time consuming (she also had a baby in that time but still).

Tbf Katy was never the most prolific popstar even without Idol, so imo Carrie will be fine.

went with the cheapest option for sure

The cheapest option would have been Meghan Trainor for sure.

Katy was there for seven seasons. She herself revealed she felt it was time to move on.

yes, because she had a new album coming out she thought was going to smash. now she's unemployed and without any success. :jonny:

I doubt she was ever really in contention, at least if they wanted to try and bring in the ratings.

Too much country though ... they need a pop act maybe demi but she doesnt have that many hits...her career could use a boost.

Their audience is predominantly middle America and the winners almost always reflect that (white country contestants with guitars), so of course they'd pander. The Voice also suffers from this; they had Reba and Dan+Shay last season.

As if the show wasn't already boring enough.

I mean cuntry is IN right now so it makes sense. Also I think country singers like her would really benefit from such exposure. Other cuntry singers like Taylor swift is likely to be considered next?

While her music is mostly country, Carrie's voice extends beyond genres. So she'd be good for a variety of contestants.

THANK YOU GOD THAT IT'S NOT MILEY:jonny5:

What can I say, it just feels right. She better judge and give us a show.

Isn't Justin preparing for a new era? Ain't no way he would agree to judge on American Idol. Especially since he's still a reliable hit maker. Leave that really judge **** for when you're 40 and washed (no offense to current and former judges x).

With her on the panel, I hope they replace Luke and/or Lionel too!

you definitely don't need two similar country singers on the panel.

im here for Carrie in seat one, with Jelly Roll and either Pink or Alanis as the third judge. the other two need to go!

also, thought Janet Jackson would have always been a good choice!

this was the most obvious choice, I knew she'd replace Katy the moment she announced she was leaving

but I'm pretty sure Katy will come back in 2026 after she's done touring.

Makes sense and this is probably going to really help her brand/career.

Yeah I think she might have a commercial repeak like JLo's On The Floor (given that country music is pretty popular ATM too)

Tbh I feel like they should add another person to the judge panel.

3 is a bit boring

They should get Alicia Keys to join IMO
