Rev8 Posted July 28 Posted July 28 (edited) Oop yet another confirmation of the bias of the Grammys from inside too! I know most of us know this, but it's funny to still see ppl fighting about these awards 4 hours ago, Hurem said: Grammys, Oscars and all other award shows will always be about who campaigns the best. And it's not just the regular promo, some artists are hosting dinners for voters, which is basically bribing them to give them their votes. These awards will never be fair and it's best not to take them too seriously. They've become so much less relevant in past few years due to social media and streaming services allowing audiences to explore the music landscape more freely than ever before. Reminds me of the radio payola, which was basically the same way Giving out vacations, expensive items and etc, to radios so that they can play their artists more (and it's probably still happening with playlist curators in this age) Edited July 28 by Rev8 3
Taylor fanboy Posted July 28 Posted July 28 Spoiler "If you are taking into account an artist's older work, or their reputation, or race, or gender, what label they are on, who their manager is, how many friends participated in the project, or anything else like that, you're not doing your job." I can think of plenty "backlash" eras that deserves a GRAMMY.

Drag them CEO Yes, one of those blind voters made a reference about Lana's iconic SNL performance but Lana has contributed significantly to the sound of music and her losses over the years were legit snubs.

ericcartman Posted July 28 Posted July 28 Nobody has benefited from favoritism more than Beyonce in the r&b categories 5
Bosque Posted July 28 Posted July 28 Everyone has known this forever, yet ATRL continues to be shocked by their predictable selections
rickycabello123 Posted July 28 Posted July 28 I always knew grammys so biased, havana lost and letting unholy win over bam bam, biased 3 1
judasmonster Posted July 28 Posted July 28 it sounds at least some effort is being made to stop this kind of bias and unfairness. They disappoint every single year tho with the winners so the bar is on the floor. 1

And it's not like The Weeknd was a newcomer to the Grammys either. Three wins in the R&B field plus AOTY and ROTY nominations in 2016 for "Beauty Behind The Madness" and "Can't Feel My Face" respectively. 2
BloodLuster Posted July 28 Posted July 28 glad they're aware they look like total fools for not rewarding Lana 2

The only solution would be to have less white voters to counteract their obvious cultural advantage, what do you think
BrokenMachine Posted July 28 Posted July 28 Quote There is no place in our organization for such bias 2

Without being biased, do you honestly believe those albums deserved it The Grammys have turned into the teen choice awards. 2

I think the institution of racism is more nuanced than people are ready to discuss.

This is one of the most embarrassing scandals at the Grammys; you can't say there wasn't something behind it, they didn't even nominate BL... 1
ATRL Moderator MissedTheTrain Posted July 29 ATRL Moderator Posted July 29 It's true. I remember reading the "secret Grammy voters reveal who they're voting for" article where someone said they couldn't vote for Lana because they can't take her seriously after her 2012 SNL performance. That's just flat out bias.
