NoAngelus Posted July 22 Posted July 22 The fact that something like this is out and known MONTHS before movie is even out pretty much confirms how much of it is decided behind the scenes of Hollywood and rarely happens organic in this era. 4 2 1

Expecting the movie industry to be all organic just makes no sense. There's too much money involved in a big blockbuster like this. 3
WildAmerican Posted July 22 Posted July 22 mama we've had discourse about this in base for DAYS wya it's also just a theory, nothing is in stone yet
Namiskine Posted July 22 Posted July 22 (edited) Would clickbait writer Clayton Davis lie? Edited July 22 by Namiskine Missspelled this ***** name 2

Supporting/lead categories are known while filming though?
Miracle Posted July 22 Posted July 22 Variety is lying. There's no way she does it lol. Especially when we have info she sing around TWENTY songs in the film

Huh? Studios have been campaigning for the better part of a century. 1

Months before movie is out. Of coarse things like that can be decided as soon as script is ready to go

Wdym? The studio has to submit films for specific categories. It's not like it's a secret which actors are going to compete in lead vs supporting.
Sannie Posted July 22 Posted July 22 This is just a prediction, but ultimately she is a lead in Joker 2 and will campaign as such. 1
Sannie Posted July 22 Posted July 22 Just now, Kimi said: that would be good tbh, more chances winning IDTS. Typically this kind of riggory is looked down upon. Everyone knows she's a lead so her trying for supporting would be a bad look.

Over the last decade alone, we've had Viola Davis & Alicia Vikander win Supporting Oscars for clear leading roles. Sometimes they just don't care.
Enzo Posted July 22 Posted July 22 Her chances would be better but then again, the Academy don't like this type of shenanigans.

There's hundreds a millions of dollars poured into this film... yeah, they're gonna have a game plan as for what to do with it. If you're talking about awards in general, that's pretty untrue. There are routinely studio films that flop, things that become big contenders out of nowhere, contenders that make surprise category placements, and everything in between.
Digitalism Posted July 23 Posted July 23 This is not going to be decided until is much closer to the voting They have to know first which category will be harder to get the award/nom. Then they can choose. And that is a critical choice. Changing categories has benefited a lot of actors and it also has ruined their chances. So they are not going to decide now
