Kelp Posted August 5 Posted August 5 Tinashe - Gravity: it's cute background music but again like the last song the melody is not that strong and not much is happening in the instrumental so it's not very catchy/memorable. @Seffers could dance to it though
Kelp Posted August 5 Posted August 5 Mitski - Working for the Knife: Definitely the best song from this album (the irony that the only good, heartfelt song from the album being the song about how she's overworked and exhausted seems to be lost on everyone alsdkfjlsa). Not like my all time fave by her but conceptually it's really interesting and it's an enjoyable listen. I hope @Seffers isn't working too hard for the knife at his job
Kelp Posted August 5 Posted August 5 Mutya Buena - Real Girl: A fun surprise for me, just like @Seffers was when we first met! Very authentically nostalgic for me as a 2000s kid. Ooh I love the filter on the beat in the beginning of the 2nd verse. Really enjoyed
Kelp Posted August 5 Posted August 5 JPEGMAFIA - Either On or Off the Drugs: this choice is so straight. If you were trying to get points from @Seffers this was not a great choice. Tbh I don't know much about rap so I guess I don't really get him or why he is so acclaimed on RYM but this is alright. I liked when the strings came in
Kelp Posted August 5 Posted August 5 Alessia Cara - October: This wasn't like really outstanding but it was pretty and nice, I could see it coming on while @Seffers is shopping for groceries
Kelp Posted August 5 Posted August 5 Remi Wolf - Soup: one of my faves from her new album! It feels very earnest and emotional which is a nice change of pace for her, definitely shows her maturity. I think @Seffers favorite soup would be chicken noodle
Kelp Posted August 5 Posted August 5 Kehlani - Wish I Never: ooh I like this! It has a good groove to it. I wish @Seffers never was eliminated from ASC (three times)
Kelp Posted August 5 Posted August 5 Artful Dodger - Twentyfourseven: I was excited when I saw this name because I know they have some cool 2 step songs, unfortunately this was not one of them, this is okay but pretty flat dynamically :/ @Seffers hi
Kelp Posted August 5 Posted August 5 Dua Lipa - Happy for You: I never listened to this album, this song is so sweet! Sounds dated but that's not necessarily bad. I'm happy for @Seffers <3
Kelp Posted August 5 Posted August 5 Cecile Believe - ***** Bites Dog: yes, this is a bop I already know and enjoy and @Seffers is a user I already know and enjoy
Kelp Posted August 5 Posted August 5 Fiona Apple - Paper Bag: I've kind of grown off her stuff but this is one of her best classics, @Seffers told me it's all in my head and I said "so's everything" but he didn't get it :/
Kelp Posted August 5 Posted August 5 Raveena - Pluto: AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH. This is like, my favourite song of all time. Deadly serious!!!!!!!!! The soft, sugary, warm, EUPHORIC melody + unique fairytale-like production combined with the slightly heart-breaking, vulnerable, raw and beautiful lyrics, which are somehow simultaneously simple yet complex and FULL of weight? When you look beyond the obvious, there is a hint of sadness and trauma in the references to her past here, and the fact that the central lyrics are framed in a double negative,,, as if she would normally be second guessing herself about the relationship but she is now NOT thinking of leaving, letting go etc.. overjoyed to finally feel secure and to have overcome the anxiety @Seffers knows only too well from the earlier rocky stages of a relationship? This song kind of embodies the release of that anxiety and the comfort that brings. The way that the bridge BUILDS from the vocal layering in the second half is an extended moment of basically ecstasy, and like, these ad libs are why I stan Ariana... She sounds HEAVENLY. This song just hits so hard and I'm not even emotionally invested in a single soul on this planet rn, like this track kind of makes me excited to fall in love again and experience this journey???? OMG!! 1
Kelp Posted August 5 Posted August 5 Hatchie - Sunday Song: Aw I'm listening to this on a Sunday! It's Monday in @Seffers timezone already though. Anyways I think is one my least favorites I've heard from her unfortunately but it's not like bad/annoying
Kelp Posted August 5 Posted August 5 Madonna - The Power of Good-Bye: Can you all PLEASE stop making me listen to this woman. I can't stand her voice at all, it would sound better if @Seffers sang it. The beat was alright, I liked some of the details, but overall I have yet to be convinced anything by this woman is stan worthy
Kelp Posted August 5 Posted August 5 Toni Braxton - Spanish Guitar: Well… alright. I know that person is going to be mad but I just feel like these ballads don't translate well to the song sending games where attention grabbing things are going to be more immediate. It's not bad, like obviously her voice is great and the guitar flourishes make it different than just a normal ballad but it's just such a mood shift from everything else that it took like 3 minutes to start being in the right headspace for it. @Seffers what do you think?
Kelp Posted August 5 Posted August 5 Ariana Grande - Don't Wanna Break Up Again: you were determined to send Ariana huh. The production kind of reminds me of the kpop music @Seffers likes. This is fun and I really like her AI generated sequence vocals, it's rhythmic and catchy and fun
Kelp Posted August 5 Posted August 5 Lil' Kim - Crush on You: ohhh it's sampling the same thing as Right There, I knew it sounded familiar hehe. This is fun, had my head bopping, I'm a fan! We made it to the end @Seffers <3 1

Kinich Posted August 5 Posted August 5 Rachel Chinouriri - If Only Cute, relaxing and calming. It reminded me a bit of Arlo Parks' stuff.
Kinich Posted August 5 Posted August 5 Tinashe - Gravity Yasss, we do love 808 Tinashe. Such a nice jam.
Kinich Posted August 5 Posted August 5 Mitski - Working for the Knife Better than most of the songs in Laurel Hell actually but I also get why some of the girls don't vibe with it.
Kinich Posted August 5 Posted August 5 Mutya Buena - Real Girl The sample definitely carried the song but the song itself was just okay. I wouldn't skip if it comes on auto play.
Kinich Posted August 5 Posted August 5 JPEGMAFIA - Either On or Off the Drugs Actually enjoyed it more than I could imagine, was pleasantly surprised.
Kinich Posted August 5 Posted August 5 Alessia Cara - October For an Alessia Cara song, that was actually inoffensive. Good job, Miss Alessia.
