group b reviews by ho

tina turner - disco inferno : not really my thing. I like Tina turner but I don't think I really care for any version of this song.

loreen - tattoo : nothing to smile about in my life

ellie goulding - figure 8 : I don't have a lot of attachment to this era in dubstep/edm pop. I wouldn't listen to this again

twice - what is love : super bubblegum and fun :kitty: I love this type of kpop, its really bright and exciting. the chorus is so addictive and their voices are so cute :3 miss this period of twice!!

zara larsson - can't tame her : I mean... its a Weeknd song :skull: but its fun enough

ayra starr - rush : this is really cool, I love the beat a lot, this genre is usually really fun to me..  perfect summer vibes

sunmi - siren : oddly not my favourite by her but its interesting. there's a breathy vibe to the verses I think are interesting, the chorus is okay

foxes - let go for tonight : there's quite a few elements to this that are stuck in the mid 2010s in a way I don't like. the piano elements, the percussion, etc etc. overall its not my thing but honestly not that bad, the energy of the chorus is kind of fun

girls generation - genie : ehhh

red velvet - bad boy : I think its okay tbh... I'm not as into this as a lot of people are, I find it a little bit on the boring side :kitty:

joel corry & tax jones - out out : absolutely hated it sadly, its not even fun

new jeans - attention : they made history right out the gate... my winner so far

stromae - alors on danse : find it super annoying

rosalia - candy : my favourite song of hers, its a great fusion of neoperreo and art pop elements. super unique and a fun twist on those genres and her own personal style. the album was only okay imo but this song is a massive highlight

iu - lilac : the nu-disco/city pop stuff in kpop is a bit tiresome for me, I used to like city pop a lot more in the past but I think there's only so many places you can take it. that being said, I like a few elements of it, but idk exactly where it'd place..

taeyeon - invu : I only really love the time she randomly did a few tropical bops for an EP, otherwise I don't have many thoughts on her music... I wouldn't skip this but I don't have a strong reaction either

jade - angel of my dreams : definitely a shock from a LM girl tbh.. its got some great electroclash elements that are addictive, overall its okay - I get why people love it but I don't think its up there for me

army of lovers - crucified : hadn't heard this before!

heize - happen : interesting choice, this is pretty pleasant tbh... she ended IU/Taeyeon in the soloist war

leigh-anne - my love : this is pretty cute, I like the vibes - the chorus is super fun

Tina Turner - Disco Inferno: It's a classic but unfortunately it's not doing much for me

Loreen - Tattoo: The rightful ESC winner! I like this even more than Euphoria. The 🥖s that still think Käärijä should have won need to bounce on some **** and get their taste back

Ellie Goulding - Figure 8: Finland and New Zealand showed some taste with this wheew. I need Ellie to go back to this sound

Posted

Twice - What is Love: I love Twice but out of all of their songs that went top 10 this doesn't belong to my favourites.

Posted

Zara Larsson - Can't Tame Her: I already saw some draggings but they can never make me hate this. It's a cute song and Zara is serving vocals

Posted

Ayra Starr - Rush: So far the best of the group. Thank god this went viral on Tiktok and introduced me to Ayra :gaycatina1:

Posted

SUNMI - Siren: YAAAAAS SUNMI. Love her and the song is a bop too

Posted

Foxes - Let Go For Tonight: If Spotify Wrapped would have existed in 2014, this would have been probably somewhere in my top 10 along with Holding Onto Heaven. I still like the song but I think nostalgia plays a huge role in this case

Posted

Girls' Generation - Genie: Usually I'm not too fond of GG but this song reminds sonically reminds of an european girl group I used to love

Posted

Red Velvet - Bad Boy: Major bop, no complaints

Posted

Joel Kerry - OUT OUT: The fact that the original song is in this group too doesn't help the song at all hfdjdj

Posted

NewJeans - Attention: Cute song

Posted

Stromae - Alors on danse: aged like fine wine

Posted

Rosalía - Candy: one of my fav songs on the album

Posted

Tina Turner - Disco Inferno
it's the way i've never heard this song before. woah.. it's cute and i always love me some tina turner energy! will have to see how it stands against the other 19 songs in the group tho, might be v middle but i'm not sure.

Loreen - Tattoo
esc is not really my thing much but when i saw her semi-final performance, oh i was gagged and floored. this is an amazing song with a great build-up imo and i think it's def better than euphoria for sure, yup. there i said it.

Ellie Goulding - Figure 8
