Taeyeon Posted September 25 Posted September 25 don't call me - almeda it was fine but i was a little unmoved, i was much more into the instrumental than her actual presence
Taeyeon Posted September 25 Posted September 25 body favors - jae stephens this was kind of a revelation for me . this is my type of boring pop music that i'll leave on repeat for 10 hours 1
Dessy Posted September 26 Posted September 26 Nicki Minaj - Itty Bitty Piggy We stan just for this song Selena Gomez & The Scene - Bang Bang Bang I mean it's listenable. Not good but listenable Magdalena Bay - Domino This was quite nice. Ashley Tisdale - Be Good to Me Oh this is shockingly good. Wtf
Dessy Posted September 26 Posted September 26 Gavin Turek - Heaven Knows Whoa who tf hid this from me???? Im a bit obsessed Lu Kala - Who's Gonna Ooo I want to play this right before a night out. It's cute. Alemeda - Don't Call Me This was alright. I like her tone. Jae Stephens - Body Favors She reminds me of someone I can't put my finger on. Cute song tho This set was pretty fun
Dessy Posted September 26 Posted September 26 Nova May - CBA Absolutely not. JIHYO - Room It's just fine H.E.R. - U Okay Ms Letters herself. I see u. Cute song We Are KING - Hey I wanted to make a "Bye" joke so bad but instead I'm saying hey back and welcoming inside for cookies and wine. I like the cute epic vibe of the song.
Dessy Posted September 26 Posted September 26 Kwon Eunbi - Glitch A nice song. I think she done this well St. Vincent - Slow Disco Lovely sing IVE - I Am I like this song but it's just alright among these other songs JoJo - Baby It's You What a nice song to finish out on.
Aurora Posted September 26 Posted September 26 🏆 CRITERIA 1: WINNER SONGS 🏆 Spoiler Nicki Minaj - "Itty Bitty Piggy" Firstly, congrats on making the finale! Nicki still being eligible in the finale is kind of surprising, but then again it also kind of isn't given her rep these days? Going to be fair and not take that into account of course. To me, this wasn't really it. The bars were repetitive and kind of weak, it's clear this is from a time before Nicki was really hitting her stride. I think "Fly" would have been a much better choice for this, which may cause some eye rolls, but… that's just how I feel. Don't see this doing too hot with me. Selena Gomez & The Scene - "Bang Bang Bang" Firstly, congrats on making the finale! I know people love sending these throwback Disney girl bops in these games for the easy nostalgia points, but unfortunately I don't have any attachment to this era of Miley/Selena/Demi/Ashley tween pop outside of a very select few songs. The good news is, that means I can judge this objectively! This is a cute bop. A bit cheap sounding, definitely not something I'll ever listen to again, but it wasn't unpleasant to listen to. Just another cheap throwaway from the 2010s. Magdalena Bay - "Domino" Firstly, congrats on making the finale! I love that somebody else noticed Mag Bay being incorrectly vanished. I was keeping them in my back pocket just in case I thought of something to send, but was eliminated before it could be of any use to me. I had a different "Domino" on my own mock list (Jessie J's for criteria four—yes, eyerolls ensue!) and felt like mentioning that. This was a lovely chill bop by genuine musicians and honestly you completely washed the other girls in this category for me. Ate! Ashley Tisdale - "Be Good to Me" Firstly, congrats on making the finale! It would be extremely boring if I just reiterated my thoughts on the Selena Gomez song, and luckily I don't have to! This is far enough away from the Disney shtick and a genuinely fun pop/R&B offering. It's so mid-2000s in the best way, and is definitely succeeding at farming nostalgia points from me. I'm honestly surprised this song wasn't bigger than it was. Nice one. 📉 CRITERIA 2: IDK HER SONGS 📉 Spoiler Gavin Turek - "Heaven Knows" Not at all surprised to see something from this album here. I did peep the reception it was receiving upon release and gave it a listen. I found it to be quite enjoyable! I don't know if it's one of the strongest tracks on the album per se, but it's definitely not a bad choice. It reminds me specifically of Kylie's 'DISCO' album in its modern yet classic sounding production, which is a plus for me. I do think it may have overstayed its welcome a little, and when I thought it was over, it kept going… hmph. Lu Kala - "Who's Gonna" I am very surprised to see something from Lu Kala here actually, since I feel like she isn't the most well-received artist? Fortunately for you, I am not one of her detractors. This song just oozes fun and funk. I do prefer "Pretty Girl Era" and "Hotter Now" a good deal, but I understand they were ineligible for this. This song specifically reminds me of Fleur East a lot. A cute bop, but not thee strongest choice. Alemeda - "Don't Call Me" I really loved the first song that was sent by this artist, "Guy's Girl" I believe it was? Definitely a nice introduction to this artist. It's an interesting experience when you hear a song by an artist and love it, and then hear another and… don't as much? I don't know. This song isn't bad by any means, but it isn't packing the same punch and capturing my attention like her previous entry did. This was just alright. Jae Stephens - "Body Favors" My winner! This song was on my mock list of submissions, for this criteria too, of course. This was actually the first song of Jae's that I heard as she's been a more recent discovery for me, and I listened to a few of her other songs and really like "WET" also. This song has just about everything I like in a song honestly. It's catchy, has a great groove, tons of personality, and blends different sounds and textures in such a fun way. A huge win for me and washing the other girls in this category. Ate down! 🤨 CRITERIA 3: KHIA ARTISTS 🤨 Spoiler Nova May - "CBA" Nova May is a fun artist, obviously trying to chase that sort of Ke$ha-adjacent electro pop party girl lane from the early 2010s, which is usually totally my vibe. My problem with this song is… well I kinda just don't really like this song much at all unfortunately. "DJ MY RELIGION" does a much better job of calling back to this era and being a super fun sing-along dance pop bop. Clearly that song was ineligible, but eh. This didn't really hit the mark for me, I'm sorry. JIHYO - "Room" This song is quite nice and chill, pretty sounding. I like the melodies and such throughout. I'd say more about this, but I feel like I'd just be trying to reach a self-imposed word count. Pleasant and fine. H.E.R. - "U" Clearly Armani has never played Vanishing Letters for H.E.R. not to have been sent at all. I kid, I kid. You were holding onto this one-letter title for a difficult batch of vanished letters, weren't you? I like this enough. It's not blowing me away, but it's probably the best of this criteria so far. It's very reminiscent of its time, that 2015-2019 era of trap pop beats that were inescapable. But I liked it for what it is. We Are KING - "Hey" This was another adequately pleasant listening experience. It was a chill vibe and I was enjoying it, but just as I thought it was wrapping up, I realized it was only about halfway through, so… hmm. May have overstayed its welcome for me, but it wasn't bad. Could be something nice to put on in the background and zone out to, you know, for the vibes. But as a song I'd return to specifically, it's unlikely. 🫥 CRITERIA 4: IT'S ALL VANISHING 🫥 Spoiler Kwon Eunbi - "Glitch" Definitely, I thought it was fun, I like the beat. So… yeah! I was expecting some mega slays from this more or less free choice criteria, and you sorta kinda delivered. The production here is clearly the star of the show, which I'm not complaining about. The vocals and melodies were nice and accompanied it well, but the beat came here to serve, and serve she did. St. Vincent - "Slow Disco" I haven't listened to this lady a whole lot. This song kind of almost reminds me of something, but I can't put my finger on what it is. Whatever it is, isn't something that resonates with me strongly, personally. I didn't actively dislike this, but it didn't leave a lasting impression. IVE - "I Am" This was fun and boppy, kind of reminds me of Ava Max's music a little bit in some parts. Like something she would have released as a stand alone single. This was a bit more formulaic and thus a bit less interesting than the "Glitch" song, but I still enjoyed this enough. Not a super slay, but cute. JoJo - "Baby It's You" Gurl did Auburn force you submit this song ijbol? JoJo is such a special artist and she was truly denied of having the main pop girl career she was destined to have by that awful label. Chile anyways. This song is such a bop, such a great throwback entry for me. This song came up when I was searching for something for the 3/4 round ijbol. Is it her best song? Well no, but it's the best song in this criteria. 1
Crashed Posted September 26 Posted September 26 (edited) Nicki Minaj - Itty Bitty Witty: It's an ok song, nothing I would revisit tbh Selena Gomez & The Scene - Bang Bang Bang: This went platinum in 12 year old Crashed's household. MusicLoverDude Posted September 26 Posted September 26 Category One: Itty Bitty Piggy I love me some trashy savage rap. Ended Rochelle Jordan
MusicLoverDude Posted September 26 Posted September 26 Bang Bang Bang: This is better than I remembered tbh. It's no LYLALS, Hit the Lights, Outlaw, Whiplash, Middle of Nowhere or My Dilemma but it's still a serve and I'm a Selenator so of course it will rank with me.
MusicLoverDude Posted September 26 Posted September 26 Domino: It's ok. Not really a fan of the vocals at all. I feel like I can tell who sent this given the other entries. Anyways, definitely the least ranked of the 4 guaranteed.
MusicLoverDude Posted September 26 Posted September 26 Be Good To Me: Likely going to be my winner as the nostalgia factor for me on this song is VERY strong. Stronger than He Said She Said actually. Her HSM tour outfit video for this song played so much on the Disney Channel back in the day as well. This song is just pure nostalgia pop.
MusicLoverDude Posted September 26 Posted September 26 Will do the other categories at various times of the day
