Michael Jackson - Remember the Time
This bops  :jamming: I've been an MJ fan since I was young, I try to not think about the other things.. but I do listen to him less sadly, but he is very talented

yeah yeah just doing these in one post again bc it's a lot of posts to be risking on this shite server. playlist was cute x :gaycat: gonna go back to listening to shania now, its time for up! :gayoncecat3:

Depeche Mode - Policy of Truth
hmm this was nice, i enjoyed the production quite a lot… the vocals not so much. but not bad overall

D'Angelo - Brown Sugar
very smooth, almost to a fault in the sense that it kinda didn't go anywhere. got old quick with how repetitive it became

George Michael - Fastlove, Pt. 1
very groovy and fun! i don't imagine there will be many songs i'll revisit outside of the context of this round per se, but this will be one of them

Lenny Kravitz - It Ain't Over 'til It's Over
this is (probably) gonna be a recurring comment but this just feels like you plucked something off a "hits of the 90s" compilation and called it a day, relying heavily on "exactlyyyy it's a classic" nostalgia points tbh. but that is to be expected / comes with the territory with rounds like this tbh.

idk song is fine but not something i'd gravitate towards on the regular

Usher - You Make Me Wanna...
oh my god is this the song that zara larsson samples in her amazing unreleased banger "wanna"? #justice4wanna …tinashe's version is amazing too like- we need flo or something to record this SMASH and finally give it the justice it deserves…

chile anyways i got distracted… i like this a lot, usher sounds great, the song is a fun vibe, yeah yeah

Next - Too Close
hmm i hear something… i know y'all hear that too. anyways, #that aside, this was kinda just there for me. it had a bit more movement to it than the d'angelo song but it was still very linear idk

Ride - Vapour Trail
2001 remaster… oh it was bad for her. jk jk. maybe they should have waited a bit longer to remaster it bc the vocals still felt a lil muddy at times. me being an annoying pedant aside, this was a nice vibe to shake up the playlist a bit which i appreciate, and it's an inspired selection

Santana, Rob Thomas - Smooth
let me just say at least you didn't submit a vanished song ijbol. i think somebody tried to clock you for rob thomas basically being a lead on this, but idk, i feel like this song would be nothing without santana's iconic riffs. a fun listen

The Goo Goo Dolls - Iris
this is another very 90s hit compilation coded song, but i don't have as much of a problem with this one. it really is a beautiful song and a timeless classic for a reason. bring back men being emotionally vulnerable/available without sounding whiny tbh

Eagle-Eye Cherry - Save Tonight
hate to sound like a broken record but this is another 90s hit compilation coded song, there's nothing really interesting going on here besides that initial, "oh i've heard this song before" realization imo. just because it was a hit with old straight people 20+ years ago doesn't mean it's gonna work here and now

112 - Cupid
there's one specific sound in this song that sticks out like a sore thumb… vocals were really nice in parts, but also kinda not in others? maybe i'm just used to everything being so sanitized these days with pitch correction so lemme not be too harsh on that… overall it was okay

Jamiroquai - Butterfly
ooh this is quite different from anything else thus far. the fusion of sounds is quite eclectic, and i enjoyed how the strings almost seemed to "flutter" at points. very funky, another i might revisit

Luis Miguel - La Media Vuelta
this feels like it would be very pleasant background music on a romantic dinner date. outside of that specific context, it's not really doing much for me i'm afraid, but it's pleasant

Enrique Iglesias - Bailamos
i honestly had no idea this man had such a deep discography, as someone who has literally never checked for him ever i assumed he debuted in the 2010s we- anyways this song was fun and nice, i liked it

D'Angelo - Me and Those Dreamin' Eyes of Mine
ate up the other d'angelo sender with ease. this is how you balance being smooth while still having a good sense of movement throughout. this song is longer too, but honestly didn't feel it. comparisons aside, i do like this a lot in the general context of the playlist too

2Pac, Roger, Dr. Dre - California Love
bro you ******* killed this… i'm an absolute ***** for vocoder so as soon as this song started i was sold. yes it's 90s hit compilation coded but i can't make the song not bop. i can't make it not bop! what a track

The Smashing Pumpkins - 1979
it's too many numbers for me to comprehend… don't even mention the number. chile anyways… this was kinda the textbook definition of "didn't really go anywhere" for me i'm sorry to say. like i wanted smashing pumpkins, this felt like a mildly brisk stroll through a pumpkin patch

Radiohead - Karma Police
i'm just gonna come out and say it… i've never listened to a radiohead song of my own volition. pretty much my only exposure to them has been hearing people sing "creep" on talent shows ijbol. anyways, this was not bad! nothing to rave about but pleasant enough for me for sure

Usher - Nice & Slow
very sexy song, oh i just know this man got the ladies (and others) feeling some type of way back in the day. i connected with the other usher song more simply bc of being able to additionally envision it in a more modern context, but this is v solid also

Michael Jackson - Remember the Time
mj gotta be thee most unimaginative and 90s hit compilation coded choice of them all… that said, he was obviously a fixture in pop for a reason. this song is pretty good, and isn't one of thee most obvious classics from him (positive), so all in all… nice

Depeche Mode - Policy of Truth
hmmm! idk how to feel about this like i don't think it's bad by any means but then again, i also just don't really feel anything about this. like it's probs just there and doesn't give me any feelings towards it!

D'Angelo - Brown Sugar

Lenny Kravitz - It Ain't Over 'til It's Over
