Jhené Aiko - Jukai

Beautifully depressing lyrically, hauntingly beautiful sonically.

Brandy - Have You Ever

Love Brandy but this wasn't doing too much for me outside of some bits and pieces of the instrumental.

SZA - Far

An average trap soul track that doesn't really go anywhere or last in the conscious.

Keyshia Cole - Let It Go

Classic 2007 banger right here. This album is packed with bops and deserves more retrospective appreciation.

Kali Uchis - I Wish You Roses

I enjoyed this for the most part, there's nothing to complain about and it's very pretty but I probably won't remember it.

Taylor Swift - White Horse

I always mix this up with Fifteen (the better song) and never really feel all that compelled to go back to it. It's definitely not one of my favorites from her.

Tkay Maidza - Out of Luck

Those melodies, the groove :flame:

Chappell Roan - Coffee: easily the worst song off her debut. I remember I played an album game and had to pretend this grew on me… it has grown off of me more since then

Janet Jackson - What About: this was great, especially the lyrics

Dua Lipa - These Walls: my fave album track from RO! A tad too repetitive but radio would eat it up

Frou Frou - Flicks: not bad but a little strange

Lana Del Rey - High By the Beach: I hated this song a few years ago because of how bored she sounds. An awful lead single and it still is bad

Kacey Musgraves - Space Cowboy: really good, beautiful song

Hemlocke Springs - Sever the Blight: her voice reminds me of MO. I thought the switch up was cool

Maggie Rogers - Alaska: this was okay

Jhené Aiko - Jukai: jhené’s voice is so beautiful to me. One of my favorites so far. That outro could’ve been cut though lol

Brandy - Have You Ever: WINNER ❤️ so good! (although imo I don’t think she’s necessarily giving up she’s just mad at herself)

SZA - Far: not one of the best from SOS but it’s nice enough

Keyshia Cole - Let It Go: this was okay

Kali Uchis - I Wish You Roses: this didn’t really connect with me

Taylor Swift - White Horse: one of my faves from her earlier work!!

Tkay Maidza - Out of Luck: bop!

@luckystrike is dealing with a power outage so I am posting his critiques for this round:

Shaznay Lewis - Got to Let Go: this is kinda giving Kylie's Tension reject… it's fine though, harmless, cute and funsy

Zabawa - Butterfly's Repose: well… no

Ashley Tisdale - It's Alright, It's OK: MASSIVE classique, remains excellent until this day and a childhood staple for luckystrike

Frou Frou - Let Go: production is very cool as per usual, it's nice!!

beabadobee - Take A Bite: wait I really liked this!! it reminded me of Let Go/Under My Skin Avril aka when she was the queen of music, lemme save

Victoria Monét - Alright: it's nice, the production has some fun moments but it didn't fully grab me by the end

Almeda - Guy's Girl: mega fun bop, I need to get into her cause every time she's sent in these games I really like her stuff!

Kali Uchis - Solita: I personally think Kali had better choices, I was never a huge fan of this one but it's okay

Björk - Black Lake: SECURITY!!!!!!!!
Carole King - It's Too Late: okay… like it's fine but why

Chlöe - Boy Bye: omg she kinda sounds like Rihanna here in some parts dkfjfj am I crazy??? idk but I really liked this, she ate

Sabrina Carpenter - Feather: a song we all know and a song we all love

KATSEYE - Touch: who are these NewJeans attempters omg??? I really liked this, it's giving c*nty

SZA - Kill Bill: it's a good song, I was never crazy over it like other people were but I definitely like it, it did grow with time too

Zabawa - Butterfly's Repose

Beabadoobee - Take a Bite

This songs sawrr fckng good oprah

Victoria Monét - Alright

Ugh her music's so good

Alemeda - Guy's Girl

Wait this is giving mid 00s bop, are you trying to win?

Kali Uchis - Solita

Tired ass beat

Björk - Black Lake

This music is so hauntingly beautiful. Björk mourns the loss of her love and the death of her family. The violins reflect the agonising pain of the tragedy while the heavy drum beats represent the violence of having your life turned upside down and heart pain from being gutted. The song is carefully presented in 10 mins to truly allow the listener to comprehend and get sucked in the turmoil. A funeral in a song. This truly is a masterpiece of epic proportions.

Carole King - It's Too Late

Wait this is some good food

Chlöe - Boy Bye

It's Alright, It's OK

Sabrina Carpenter - Feather

Bawring

KATSEYE - Touch

"Oh baby I was gettin bored" same girl same

SZA - Kill Bill

Chappell Roan - Coffee
when i saw chappell got banned, i thought it was good luck, babe bc like that fit the theme so well but d is banned so i was confused. anyways, this is not my favorite song from the album and not really a standout for me :(( love me some chappell but this is a bit underwhelming :emofish:

Janet Jackson - What About
this is an interesting song! i love the switch up between the verses and the chorus bc i think that's the most interesting thing production-wise and it makes me like and appreciate the song more. it's a classic bop, v sad lyrics.

Posted

Dua Lipa - These Walls
oh this bop... this album is a bit overhated like the whole album is amazing and it tells a story from the start to finish!!! i loved this song, definitely a standout since when the album was released :heart2: a stan from me!!

Frou Frou - Flicks
i tried to enjoy it but it's not really for me :((

Lana Del Rey - High By the Beach
OH LOVEEEEE. i still remembered when this song and the music video was released, i was gagged the whole way through. like when she ran with a gun and shot that motherfucker omg :jonny: anyways, the song is such a big vibe and i still love it to this day :heart2: AN EXCELLENT JOB!

Kacey Musgraves - Space Cowboy

Hemlocke Springs - Sever the Blight
i saw hemlocke i said YES! while this is not my favorite song of hers, it still HITS! i used to not get this song but then it hit me and suddenly everything bad in my life has become good. this song cured me and i'm thankful for it :heart2:

Maggie Rogers - Alaska
