electrahard Posted August 11 Posted August 11 Kill Bill - SZA i loved this song, but i will acknowledge that it's aged i like it still so much still one of the best songs ever
Auburn Posted August 11 Author Posted August 11 39 minutes ago, Rotunda said: Kali Uchis // I Wish You Roses I found this annoying the first time I heard it, but now I wonder if I'm the annoying one, because this was pleasant today. well yes
Tom Vercetti Posted August 11 Posted August 11 Taylor Swift - White Horse: Not for me. I respectfully decline.
Odd Posted August 11 Posted August 11 Beabadoobee - Take a Bite i really want to like her music but it does nothing for me
Galah Posted August 11 Posted August 11 Zabawa - "Butterfly's Repose" i appreciate the riskiness of the submission, especially in a round where so many big names were vanishing left and right. i don't necessarily see what you obviously saw in this song to make it stand up against the obstacle of familiarity. it was long, not particularly engaging lyrically or sonically, and kind of took the wind out of this playlist a bit. i'm so sorry.
Tom Vercetti Posted August 11 Posted August 11 Tkay Maidza - Out of Luck: It's okay. Sounds very asc-core.
Galah Posted August 11 Posted August 11 Ashley Tisdale - "It's Alright, It's OK" it's very late 2000's pop rock'd but it's a cute and fun girl! speed this up and switch the production for electropop and i could see victoria justice slaying this down on victorious ijbol (and i'd probably stan it even harder). but this is still probably gonna do well with me, the key change yas mama >
Galah Posted August 11 Posted August 11 Frou Frou - "Let Go" a slight bop. a minor slay. a minuscule collapse. this feels very caroline polachek coded honestly, don't drag me i know what year this was released. i've always felt that caroline has a tendency to draw from the sonics of this era of indie/electronic music and i'm a fan.
Odd Posted August 11 Posted August 11 Alemeda - Guy's Girl i actually enjoyed this and i don't even like pop rock
Galah Posted August 11 Posted August 11 beabadoobee - "Take A Bite" i remember not enjoying pretty much anything by her that was submitted in asc, but i listened to this album and found it to be much more palatable. this song is fine, good even- not a standout by any means but leagues above her last offering imo~
Galah Posted August 11 Posted August 11 Victoria Monét - "Alright" the way i knew this was gonna be the song sent as soon as i saw her get vanished... some may question how well it fits the theme but it's alright for me, pun intended. listened to this song after it won a round in asc in a group i was not in, and i immediately understood why it won. the best elements of this song are undoubtedly the production (kaytranada always eats) and the melodies. huge bop
Galah Posted August 11 Posted August 11 Alemeda - "Guy's Girl" ok yeah i love this. i love this because it's a solid bop and checks all of my boxes as far as a song i'd enjoy listening to recreationally, but i also like that it's about a friendship breakup rather than a romantic one, which is a much less obvious angle. it's never outright said that they're giving up on this friendship but it's certainly implied enough to sell this for me. plus, it's not a big ticket name yet stands tall among them. this is gonna be hard to top i fear!
Galah Posted August 11 Posted August 11 Kali Uchis - "Solita" definitely a bop, the production is very lively and fun. did look into the lyrics / translations a bit and sure, i can see it working for this. not my favourite so far but not bad at all, we moved
Odd Posted August 11 Posted August 11 Chlöe - Boy Bye the melody reminds me of "as it was" this song is kinda annoying to me ngl
Galah Posted August 11 Posted August 11 Björk - "Black Lake" it just doesn't work in the context of a mixed genre playlist for me i'm so sorry :< a literal chore to sit through. i've listened to 10 minute instrumental-only tracks more beautiful, dynamic, and interesting than this too
Galah Posted August 11 Posted August 11 Carole King - "It's Too Late" this album is pictured next to the word "classic" in the dictionary... just a good song. is it the kind of song i'd play on the regular? well no, but i'm enjoying it right now, so... what now?
Galah Posted August 11 Posted August 11 Chlöe - "Boy Bye" it's very familiar sounding, but in a good way... very fun bop, this album was definitely an improvement over her last. not my favourite song from this album but still a good choice, yes~
