Virgos Groove Posted July 20 Posted July 20 Quote Boston Police Officer John O'Keefe was found unresponsive in the front yard of another officer's suburban home on a snowy morning two years ago. He was pronounced dead shortly after, and his girlfriend, Karen Read, was charged in his murder. Quote Read, 44, claimed innocence and alleged a far-reaching conspiracy among law enforcement officers to frame her in the killing. Quote The defense blamed authorities for failing to carry out a "real" investigation because of close connections to Albert and his family — his brother is also a police officer — and instead focusing on Read, whom Yannetti described as a "convenient outsider." (Albert testified that O'Keefe never came to his house but he would have been "welcomed with open arms" if he had.) NBC
suburbannature Posted July 20 Posted July 20 No, I followed this case VERY closely and she absolutely committed manslaughter. The lead investigator was a prick and has rightfully been let go, but there are mounds of evidence that she unintentionally hit him that night (and the original jury was 9-3 in favor of manslaughter). I just don't know why the prosecutors tacked on the murder charge. That twitter "journalist" who is facing his own charges for filming himself harassing witnesses has led a gullible corner of the internet to believe a wild conspiracy, but it can be simultaneously true that police are a good 'ol boys club and Karen Read had over 10 liquor beverages before driving into her boyfriend. 1 2
Sazare Posted July 20 Posted July 20 I'm almost 100% sure she killed him but the police definitely botched the investigation
