Happylittlepunk Posted July 20 Posted July 20 I wish she did this more for one of her best albums like 1989 tv or red tv instead of this weak album of hers. Now those albums deserved 10+ variants.

on the line Posted July 20 Posted July 20 Congrats, @TaylorSwift! TTPD is beloved worldwide breaking records left and right with haters feeling down bad! We love you, sis! 2 1 1 3
PoisonedIvy Posted July 20 Posted July 20 (edited) Didn't we already do this whole "she's so fake, why does she act shocked at her success/awards/acclaim" episode way back in the 2009-2013 era? It was a big criticism of her in the Fearless, Speak Now, and Red eras when she'd be super shocked at award shows. Her longevity is so unprecedented that we are literally recycling criticisms against her that have gone recurrent before Blown away doesn't have to mean shocked or surprised, guys. And even if she does mean it in that context, she's allowed to feel that way — there's no guarantee the fans would support her album, whether she was dropping variants some weeks or not. There were weeks she didn't release any variants and the album still remained at #1, plus plenty of weeks the album would've been #1 with streaming alone, no variants needed. So the achievement is worth celebrating. Plus, It would be greedy and ungrateful if she -didn't- thank and acknowledge the record + the people that helped achieve it. Edited July 20 by PoisonedIvy 4

longjohn9898 Posted July 20 Posted July 20 She could be #1 for 200 weeks and still have zero impact. THAT is what is truly impressive 2 8 3
Trent W Posted July 20 Posted July 20 She ruined her reputation in the industry for this achievement She should've just kept the 2.5m debut and take whatever organic weeks at #1 she was meant to have She would've looked x1000 times better than the way she looks now TTPD will forever have a major " * " tied next to it's commercial performance People will never let it go 6 2 1 6

Honestly no, she has always been chart obsessed but this era got overshadowed by these tactics and from the album not being good Any era were she pulled these tricks would've been tainted in the same way 1

Are you an insider? Do you work there? I bet Republic CEO is so on your side

Literally no one outside of stans cares about this. 2 1
Misguided Ghost Posted July 20 Posted July 20 She used the fact that her fans would buy every single **** from her and now she acts surprised her fans actually bought every single **** from her? 1 1

As someone else said, releasing 34 variants and then celebrating it is like giving yourself a Xmas present and acting surprised when it's under the tree. If that floats your boat so be it. Releasing multiple variants doesn’t mean people will buy them. Plenty of artists release multiple variants and fail to maintain the same amount of success. It’s not a given. It still takes her fans to buy them in that case which is why she’s thanking them. It’s not that confusing or convoluted. Regardless, if she didn’t thank her fans y’all would probably say she took it all for granted and would complain that she’s entitled. 2
