Boysdontcry Posted July 19 Author Posted July 19 What do we think?! This is the most solo music Victoria has released in a year (4 songs), it's great! 1
smartalek22 Posted July 19 Posted July 19 I wonder if we're going to get an album... It's crazy how little she's released considering she was tailored for a career in music. What even happened after Gold? Did she get dropped? I think if she stuck it out she'd have found success a lot earlier, though there's still hope. 2
Topaz Posted July 20 Posted July 20 (edited) This is her best and most mature song yet. And finally a good non tacky production. She should keep going in this route and find her sound. Raw was cute but she needs to stop making the cheesy acoustic songs. Hate The World Without You, Tripped, Only A Stranger, Big Girls Don't Cry, Last Man Standing, Too ****** Nice, Stay, Treat Myself all sound like different alterations of each other for a demo album. This was like 3 years of no growth. Treat Myself was fine on it's own. Raw and Down are released through Kite Records so is that the reason why these two songs sound better than the rest? Yes, Kite Records is Toby Gad's label. He's worked with Fergie, Demi, Selena, Miley, Kelly Clarkson, Carly Rae, loads of big names, and also did some of Victoria's Victorious songs (plus unreleased solo music for her scrapped album). They reconnected when Victoria recorded a cover of Big Girls Don't Cry with Toby and he's the producer for those two songs (made in the same session actually!)

I think if she stuck it out she'd have found success a lot earlier, though there's still hope. An album has been in the works for almost 15 years now. Since releasing independently she has confirmed that an album release is her goal but (even this year) has said she's not quite ready to release one yet. After Gold dropped and flopped, she went completely silent on new music. It's been confirmed that another song titled 'Ain't Nobody Else' was mixed and mastered in 2013 - so potentially this was a follow up single they were considering. But a year later, in August of 2014, Billboard announced Victoria had left Columbia. Victoria stated in a livestream that it was a mutual decision and it took a year because she was negotiating her contract to be able to take her music with her. 1

That makes so much sense because Raw and Down are the best songs she's released and they're consecutive. If they can make a body of work together Victoria can truly comeback. 1
blonderebellion Posted July 25 Posted July 25 Love this song and love Raw too! Give us a Toby Gad produced summer album queen!

Sad Serenade Posted August 11 Posted August 11 I can't believe she's 31, she looks like the same everytime I'm not really a fan of this song, it's ok but Raw was really good.
Topaz Posted August 12 Posted August 12 The bridge is my favorite part. She should try uptempos more.
