Virgos Groove Posted July 19 Posted July 19 Quote A fierce heatwave is continuing to roll across southern and central Europe, bringing temperatures of up to 44C (111.2F) to parts of Spain, sparking forest fires in Greece and Croatia, and prompting governments to urge people to take special care as the mercury rises. In Spain, the state meteorological agency, Aemet, said temperatures on Friday could hit 40C across large parts of the country – and even 44C in areas of Andalucía – as the first heatwave of the summer hit. Aemet said the high temperatures, caused by a mass of "very hot, dry and dusty air" from North Africa, were expected to last until Saturday. Quote "We're not talking about polar bears and all that stuff, we're talking about something that affects your health," he said in an interview with the online newspaper elDiario.es on Friday. "The heat is killing 3,000 people a year and it's going to get worse. But while exposure to extreme heat is going to rise, we can also step up our adaptation to it … Although it's hotter in Spain than it was 20 years ago, fewer people are dying because homes are better adapted, because we have air conditioning, and because people are getting into a culture of dealing with the heat." WeFoundWill Posted July 19 Posted July 19 european heat is insufferable anyways you have ppl from the hottest places on earth here and they collapse at 29 degrees here… It's like desert dry 1
tjspy Posted July 19 Posted July 19 Ngl, I moved to Madrid from an horrible windy and cold beach town in Portugal and I'm actually enjoying this summer a lot You have no idea of what it is wanting to go out at night with a cool easy outfit just to get 17°C, insane humidity, wind, fog, by 21 hr all summer. I really like hot weather and if its dry, better, because I sweat less. It does make me feel like levitating and funny (even tho obviously lazy but its ok). 1
ScorpiosGroove Posted July 19 Posted July 19 these dramatic ass articles… this summer has been non existent here, it's been literally raining non stop for months and this supposed heatwave will have lasted a total of 3 days 1

It is like a couple of weeks of hot weather when most of them people spend on European beaches, islands or some swimming places, then the rest of the year, the weather is between fair and too cold. Nobody cares about the AC there unless they really need it. It's not hell like how it is in California or Texas 1

Quote More than 5,000 people died in France as a result of searing summer heat last year, health authorities said Thursday, February 8. The summer of 2023, marked by four heatwaves including in August and September, was the fourth hottest on record in France. x Mind you, this is 4 times more than the US (1,220), which has... 5 times the population. MP3 Posted July 21 Posted July 21 It's not like that every year? Heat wave in July in Mediterranean countries?

It's not hell like how it is in California or Texas I was in Paris and Geneva for the entire summer last year and it was extremely humid and 29-32C for almost 3 months straight except for a few days. The only time it dropped below 26C was when I went to Mont Blanc. With global warming, your summers will get progressively hotter each year. Ya'll need AC. Edited July 21 by Archetype
