Many citizens in Paris only have a job because of tourism.

Jobs that pay them salaries so low they're not able to live in Paris

A lot of people I spoke to, who worked average-to-lower paid jobs, sometimes had to commute 2 hours to work :skull: And they're being pushed further and further out because suburbs are gentrifying too as it's pretty unrealistic to live as an family inside of Paris at this point, unless you got a job that pays you a fat check or you inherited a place from your parents.

Everyone in touristy cities wants tourists gone until they start losing their jobs because the restaurant or hotel they work at is closing down

Can Mexico do this too? They need to crack down on all the white Americans and Canadians moving there and taking over :rip:

The economy of many regions in Mexico relies heavily on tourism:rip: don't let the woke olympics convince you that we don't want people to come. Foreigners moving to Mexico City and not paying taxes or contributing to the country is bad but "cracking down" on American and Canadian tourism would be a huge blow to the economy, especially in the southernmost states (which are already the poorest) where tourism represents most of their income

Airbnb has decimated the rental markets of a lot of cities worldwide. Local or national governments should've acted a long time ago, I'm afraid it's too late now for most (it doesn't help that they only care about tax revenue and not their constituents).

On top of that, you have golden visa and digital nomad schemes that make the housing crisis even worse, with loaded North Americans and their six figure jobs moving to places like Portugal and inflating the cost of living.

I believe these two are the actual main issues, not tourism in itself.

The goal isn't to end tourism but to regulate tourism this doesn't mean. For some countries tourism is a major part of their economy yes but if locals can't no pay their rent anymore this is an issue.  :rip:
The fact some landlords tried to charge 500€/ day for the Olympics is insane.
