MP3 Posted July 16 Posted July 16 that biopic should have been in work and released somewhere between 2020 and 2023 and then go on the Celebration Tour I feel like it's the very right time for her to release new music asap, she's in a relative high momentum right now 3

Thats why its sad. Even if the movie is good, the fact she's directing it will always work against her. No critic is going to watch a Madonna directed film unbiased. Directing a biopic of yourself is a bit different to directing a completely new film. Also biopics don't have to be acclaimed to be successful, look at Bohemian Rhapsody and Bob Marley: One Love. If it has mediocre reviews like 40-60% on Rotten Tomatoes it could still do well. A biopic would do wonders for her streams and legacy, preferably though it would obviously be better directed by an actual director. 1

Charmed Life Posted July 16 Posted July 16 But OMH's told us this wasn't happening, so there's going to be an awful lot of sour faces about. I can see there's already a few in here. lol
LOTF Posted July 16 Posted July 16 As someone actually invested in Madonna the figure herself and not only her stats, a self directed biopic is something I definitely wanna watch. For better or for worse, it'd be very interesting. Now, how good or bad it will impact her sales, streams, public perception and legacy overall is yet to be seen. Personally I would prefer for her to release a brand new album before committing to this but it is what it is 2

The critics do that because since day one they sabotaged her acting career. She did some bad choices but she is a great acting, and some good movies had so bad press that was so bad for her and the movie. Whos that girl is an example. Its a great film and she was so good. And the press destroy it. 2

The tour had amazing reviews everywhere and she's not seen as a joke on stage after dubious appearances like the Maluma show, eurovision etc. Her collab with The Weeknd will surpass 1b on spotify later this year as well. She's doing it in her mid 60s. She got nothing left to prove. Her career is at its best stage now since like 2013. A new album with decent music would be great. 1 4
Slap Posted July 16 Posted July 16 She looks insaaaane Can they just make it a high budget miniseries with 10 one hour episodes for each off the eras of her life and career? A movie would be way too short. 2

A movie is the right move to capitalize on all this. Her directing it is not ideal as the rest of her directorial efforts are not that promising but if done right, it could give her catalogue a nice boost and get her some respect for all she did for women and the LGBTQ community. The acclaim she got on tour on an even bigger scale. Combined with a back catalogue reissue it could be great. Another album that would mostly go unnoticed like Madame X wouldn't do much for her career overall and she's clearly at a place where she's thinking legacy. 1

1989 Posted July 17 Posted July 17 I don't like the title and no one wants her directing, sorry Mother also that facetuned reel with the 2008 Britney'd outfit 1
mike_int Posted July 17 Posted July 17 (edited) I think maybe chapter of the movie will be called Who's That Girl but not the full movie, since the 1987 movie Madonna is starring in is called Who's That Girl But honestly, as a Madonna fan, I already know the movie will be very romanticized fiction based on the story. Madonna is too self cautions and too proud to actually show bad side of her, bad choices, selfish choices etc. about which we read in different books and interviews about her. I think they should do mini-series, not a movie also. Edited July 17 by mike_int
